I have a mobile app with 10k DAU with 5-6min session time, it is a productivity app and I monetize with google ads(which users hate and I don't like it as well) and subscriptions(which really small). How much should I be making from this audience?
Have you considered a freemium model? Ideally, you could add on a few new features and make them only available to paying subscribers. That way your current users won't be too upset.
Think about what is most valuable in your app and how you could magnify it, that worked well for me!
Thanks, I have something like that, multi device support and backup is pro user only though maybe I am not doing a good job of promoting it. Mine is a fashion app I tried to sell affiliate but it didn't happen.
I think it's definitely worth experimenting with promoting it more in-app. In my app I have a few moments where I show a modal that tells users about Plus features, or even little tooltips to point out locked features on a page.
Is there a function you could remove from the app and put into Pro? You might lose some users at first, but if you could even get 10% of users to sign up, it'd be a nice monthly income.
Which type of Google Ads you're using?
Don't forget that users buy benefits not features !
How much are you making now?
around $100
That’s really not much at all from that kind of user base. A sub of $1-2/m might be something to consider... it’s pretty close to free for your users and you could remove the ads. Might piss a lot of people off, but might make your revenue skyrocket.. hard to know.
Let us know what you decide and how it goes. It’s pretty interesting! Good luck! 🙂
