Hey,
I'm the creator of Promo Bot, which is a chatbot for gaming. (Leauge of Legends)
It operates on messaging platforms such as: FB messenger, Kik, Google home, Telegram and more.
The bot is doing pretty well and has many users.
I tried to monetize it by suggesting products from Aliexpress, but this is not going to well...
I'm looking for ideas how to monetize it, I'm really scratching my head.
EDIT: link to the bot https://www.messenger.com/t/try.promo.bot
In my opinion it is all about finding value: What are users looking for ? What value are they currently gaining from your product? What other value could you give them? (Maybe try to ask them too!)
Few random ideas:
• Try and sell energy drinks, other gamer lifestyle stuff
• Create content e.g. profile top players rigs and add affiliate links
• Create a premium tier service with exclusives, more detailed stats
Not that I know anything about gaming but maybe strike a partnership with a Twitch competitor and charge based on the number of times the chatbot refers the website?
Youtube? Haven't heard about a referral program there
Have you made any progress in your thinking about monetization?
Are there any existing alternatives / competitors to what your solution does?
What are your advantages over alternatives?
How would your current users feel if you did not exist anymore (they could no longer use it)?
How easy is it for others to spin-up something like what you do?
How well can you frame your value within the context of outcomes they care about?
e.g., most likely want to perform better in the next game they play, what about the past games they played ... help them play their next game better? , what does better look like to them?
More I could say ... but I would start with some working hypotheses around the above questions ... let me know your thoughts on the above I can offer some additional thoughts
*** Always better to initially start your pricing higher than you are comfortable with .... it is natural for most innovators / founders to de-value the monetary value of what they are creating, because early on they value more the idea that people are using it.
I don't know much about online gaming. What does the bot actually offer to users?
It provides statistics which are useful before every match (a regular user will play 2-3 matches a day, 2-3 times a week)
