ok I'm 52 so I don't get emoji's ok.
The only one I ever use is a smily face. But seeing some replies today I've suddenly realised after far too long that I don't know if my ;-) is right or not. Others seem to do :)
Please help, this is more important than whatever you're working on right now ;-)

emojis are usually to lighten the mood a bit, never used for "professional look" but are used for marketing, attention-grabbing and more
The utf8 ones are colorful for most impact and often used in titles nowadays of posts and such to attract the eye and symbolise something
Sometimes like with slang emojis get 2ndry meaning, like some fruit/veg compared to body parts and other craziness
These are like super common to the point of developing blindness to them
