Hi Indie Hackers! 👋
I realized something frustrating: outside of our tech bubble, most people think having an email address means being a walking billboard for Google or Microsoft.
Ask anyone on the street: they don't know what a "domain name" is. They just think @gmail.com is the only way to exist online. They’ve been trained to advertise for Big Tech every time they send a message, simply because the alternative seems too "expert" or "technical."
I’m building Happymail to break that wall.
I want to make owning your digital identity as easy as signing up for Instagram. No talk about DNS, MX records, or servers. Just:
Pick your name.
Pick a cool extension (.me, .tech, .love).
You’re live in 60 seconds.
We’re moving the professional email from a "pro-only" tool to a mainstream right. Your name is your brand, and you shouldn't need a computer science degree to own it.
We hit #4 on Product Hunt recently, but I’d love to hear from you:
Do you think the "mass market" is ready to ditch their @gmail addresses if the process is invisible?
How can we better explain the value of "digital ownership" to someone who has never bought a domain in their life?
Building this in public to liberate identities! 🚀
