Just wanted to shout out @maderalabs for taking the time to send video feedback of the recently updated Really Simple Store homepage!
I just made some updates (with more coming) based on the feedback, and it already feels so much better! Check it out at reallysimplestore.com and see the comparison at reviewcycle.io/p/b21ef3 by toggling the version in the blue bar at the top!
Looking great dude! Awesome changes, definitely feels a ton better! Extra points for using ReviewCycle to show the change, love it! :)
Liked the use of ReviewCycle to see the comparison, is that your main project @maderalabs?
It's a somewhat new little side gig that I'm spinning up :) Much more to come on it soon!
Nice job! One thing I am still a little confused on is what costs $5 and when. The little emoji tells me the first month is free, but the next page says it is totally free. I think what you are getting at is that the account is free, then the stores cost me, but it's a little confusing as is. Maybe you could go with something like SquareSpace where it is all free until you launch your store?
You also mention "integrates with almost any website". Maybe list a few common places your audience might need that definitely work?
Good luck!
Ah, good call. I see that now!
It is actually free until you launch. In fact, the "first month free" doesn't even start until you launch. I think I need to rethink all the messaging around that stuff! Thanks for pointing it out.
I agree about listing the integrations, too. I want to do a "nascar strip" of logos in the first gray bar, but I want to have a demo site and video for each logo (like this first one I did: really-simple-store-demo.webflow.io)
I've been thinking a lot about pricing/trials etc, so it hits close to home. :-)
Since your product is relatively cheap, I wonder if you really need to do the first month free? Or maybe that can be an extra bonus you explain once they have created a store? Could also think about "first sale free", i.e. don't pay until you sell something? Then they would need to have a CC on file to launch, but wouldn't start their subscription yet. Might be too much of a burden on your business model though!
Re:NASCAR, the webflow thing is really cool, but seems like it might take a while to build lots of them. Could always have each logo link to a page without the video, and then keep track of which ones are clicked most to help prioritize. (Also, the CTA on that page is nice and straightforward "Open a store for free. Pay $5/month when you're ready to go live.") Just wish I could get back to the main landing page from there!
Excellent feedback all around!
Right after I responded last I thought the same thing... why am I complicating it with first month free? Just build for free and pay when the store opens. That's more straightforward for a store owner and more streamlined for me on the admin end.
Thanks!
Hey, this is pretty nice!
I honestly have an issue with the contrast on the green sections. The small texts don't seem so legible (and might be even worse for some colorblind people).
For a quick reference and more of the science of things, check out this contrast checker, where your colors fail at exactly that - https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/?fcolor=46464F&bcolor=08B56A
I suggest either lightening the green for dark text or darkening it and use white text.
Hope this helps!
That contrast checker is a great resource. I'll never create another website without it. Thanks!
Yes, it's great! And I think it's built in thee Google Audit thingy under accessibility. So glad I could help 😇
Thank you! It's on my list... I just have to figure out exactly what I want to do, because it's part of the brand and it's everywhere all throughout the product itself, too.
I love how those colors look for some reason, but I've heard from several people that it's too hard to read, and I definitely think it's important to update.
EDIT: I just used that site to make the text just dark enough to pass... but I'll figure out a more permanent solution later. Thanks!!
