Musk on Mars - Product Hunt Launch Story

Hey Everyone, thought I'd share this funny product @ModernAfflatus and I built entirely with no-code! It's called Musk on Mars (https://www.muskonmars.space).

We went from idea to live product in one week all with a no-code stack. We launched it on our Newsletter/Twitter last Friday and Product Hunt today. It's been an incredible day answering questions and hearing funny comments/feedback about the product.

Biggest learning from today's PH launch:
Try to get 40-50 upvotes by 8ish PST -> use your network + Twitter
Respond to every comment -> It pays off!
Go the extra mile on comments -> Do more than just a simple "thanks!"
Congratulate the other makers that launched the same day (even give them an upvote if you're not too competitive)

Happy to answer any questions about the stack or share our experience about working remote from different time zones!

For context, we build funny/dumb products every other week under the name badunicorn.vc - we're just trying to build product that will make people smile.

No-Code Stack:
Webflow
Calendly + PayPal
Airtable
Mailerlite
Figma
Fomo
Trello

That's an incredible compliment. They make some badass products! Thank you.

Thanks for sharing. It's a funny thing and hope you get a great time. And people recognised that by supporting you. Not actually betting, but supporting. That's how I see it. And that's why I can't get all those haters who were marking this as a scam. Keep up the good (fun) work 🤘

Thanks so much Bruno! We're just having fun with it and you're completely right, we're not begging people to pay. Just to have a laugh if you can see the satire in the products. I so appreciate your encouragement 🙏

  7. 1

Did you have to worry about laws around betting?

    1. 1

Somewhat. We did the research we could & made the terms and conditions as a contest although it's not entirely about the law. Frankly, we don't care at all if people purchase a day - it's mostly about having a laugh (even if it's directly at our product) 😅 there will definitely be more whacky ideas we launch in the future. Maybe even next Friday 👀

  8. 1

Fun idea but...is this legal? It's similar to a lottery lol

    1. 1

That’s a good question. 😅 We like to think about it as a skilled-based game so it’d legally be a contest where people can use logic to select the best/most likely date.

It’s mostly meant to be a fun site to laugh at - we’re happy if you buy a day or not. Future BadUnicorn.vc products will be more street legal!
