Hi all!
I saw micro-invest.io ranking #1 on Producthunt this past Monday. I loved the idea of connecting early stage founders with investors, so I decided to see if the creator would be up for selling.
We had a call and reached an acquisition price that same day. (Low, low 5 figures if you're wondering)
I has received a little bit of traction since launch, but I know the Producthunt hangover will set in soon.
I plan on rebuilding it completely later this month with a better design, copy, membership plans etc.
I'd love to get your feedback on the site and idea, and perhaps, it might be useful for some of you all here. :)
Thanks so much.
If I click on the "Investors | Browse" button, I can easily miss that the list is paywalled. And I still don't know what value do I get, between how many products could browse. I can see that it's mentioned below but the text is too small and also have the problems mentioned above.
As a potential Investor, it would be better to see some kind of appetizer (total count, 5 samples with basic information, etc.)
Building a two-sided marketplace is tough, you need to solve the chicken and egg problem. I would suggest digging into the interviews of Andrew Gazdecki (microaquire)
Cool product - how do you get around the legal aspects of it?
There are no transactions taking place on the platform. Just simple email address access. But, I am having my lawyer go over everything to make sure we're in the good graces of the SEC.
Gotcha - maybe give the startups a ridiculously easy way to create some sort of investment vehicle?
I was just reading, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to register as a finder with the SEC. I'm wondering how Microacquire bypassed this? or maybe they didn't?
Not a lawyer but my guess is the rules are much stricter around raising money vs selling a business.
