My attempt at market research ๐Ÿ˜„

As I'm sure many of my fellow Indie Hackers on here know, making the transition from software developer to indie SaaS founder can be very difficult.

One of the things I'm trying to embrace is involving potential users in my feedback loop ala market research, and to that end I've been having some fun pushing the limits of Typeform's free tier.

Since Saasify is really all about enabling Indie Hacker type devs to launch their own passive income streams, I'd love it if some of you fine folks took a few minutes to help me with some market research. (10 questions, ~2 minutes)

And because your time is valuable, if you fill out the survey and respond to this thread pointing me to your side project, I will personally review your product / website / landing page / idea and give you the best feedback I can offer. Maybe it'll be worthwhile, maybe it won't but I promise that I'll try to help you out with targeted feedback.

Also, if any hackers out there have had success with their own forms of market research, I'd love to hear what worked for you.

Thanks! โค

Have completed your form, unfortunately I don't think I'm your market only because I typically want to work on things too complex/challenging/interesting for your platform.

I'd greatly appreciate your input/feedback on https://lakebed.io, thanks!

      Thanks, Simon!

Lakebed's interesting -- I'm friends with the founder of https://www.okera.com/ which is clearly very related to what you're going for.

      Some feedback:

      • at the 2500 CAD pricepoint, you're better off not mentioning price as these type of enterprise offerings focus on manual sales. you won't get any self-serve offerings at this price - it'll all have to be via traditional sales funnels. this is extremely important - if you doubt my opinion here and there's one thing you follow up on it should be understanding how your target customer finds out about and purchases this type of software (enterprises at that pricepoint). this type of sales funnel is a line item in an enterprise business and will never be self serve.

      • save yourself time & energy by using a hosted landing page builder or existing template. as someone who wants to build their own thing and focus on the technical side of things instead of the business, i know you're prolly going to ignore this advice, but at least consider the possibility. nothing about your marketing site is differentiating enough to warrant doing your own thing and existing landing page templates, even generic ones will do a 1000x better job at presenting a professional aesthetic with blocks that are proven to convert as opposed to your current landing page which 1) is way too text heavy 2) feels more like an open source project than a business / product and 3) doesn't inspire confidence especially at your price point. i don't mean to be harsh btw -- i'm sure the core tech's awesome, but focusing on product alone will get you nowhere fast.

      • check out @volkandkaya's product which would be really useful for you here.

Ouch that hurts lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ seriously though, an API to access a hosted lakebed is 100% what saasify was designed for and there's nothing aside from a config file that you'd need to learn in order to set it up.

Really appreciate the feedback & hope this helps Lakebed out!

Thank you so much for your feedback. Very much appreciated and invaluable.

I have played with Versoly and have considered it. The reason it currently looks the way it does is because 1.) I have prioritized MVP over landing page, and 2.) the website has the same layout as the app, which I feel is valuable. I am playing with the idea of a Bootstrap template as a starting point.

As for my focus on complex topics; it's no commentary on SaaSify but more my own focus and passion. I also skip no-code solutions/ideas as a personal choice.

Sounds good - good luck with your MVP ๐Ÿ˜„feel free to reach out if you ever want more feedback.

        Thanks :)

100% agree, it is getting better but a lot of Indie hackers still have landing pages that are "terrible" and that is a shame because a lot of them are working on cool projects.
