My big AI bets for the future

AI advancement has been rapidly accelerating recently. It hasn't even been a year yet and we have made insane progress. At this rate there are a few technologies that I think given enough time to advance will dramatically change the tech landscape.

Bet #1
Generating the codebases for large scale applications will be as straight forward as writing a technical spec and the letting AI do the rest.

We've seen AI agents such as smol AI, GPT-Engineer, Aider etc. do this pretty well with minor errors here and there but with sufficient time and investment these tools get exponentially better. If we write code to build product solutions to our problems then why wouldn't we want to speed up that process and just get the solution?

From Game dev, Web dev, Debugging etc. will all be done by AI with minimal human intervention. This will call the need for higher expertise in this field since the job a junior dev or even senior dev can be done easily by AI.

Bet #2
Making sufficiently good movies will all be done by video-gen AIs and Prompt Engineers. There won't be a need for full time actors. They may just lease their "AI avatar" for a movie and get paid that way (like that Black mirror episode "Joan is awful").

Image generation tools have gotten very well over the past few months, from the early days of dall-e and midjourney v1 where images kind of looked "ok" to full on HD quality realistic images in a matter of months.

Audio generation technologies such as Eleven Labs have demonstrated how well AI can produce audio. Bark from Suno AI is also impressive although not a good as Eleven Labs, it has potential to supersede Eleven Labs given enough time, particularly with the emotional expressions in the audio.

I'll also give props to musicLM by Google

Now we have companies such as Pika labs that are making video generation possible although the videos are only a few seconds long and no where near perfection. I believe this is a step in the right direction and given a few years this tech will advance by a great deal and bring this reality into fruition.

The exact technologies and companies that will be leading in the future is still uncertain but we're surely heading in that direction.
