My biggest month as an indie hacker 🚀

February was my biggest month as an indie hacker 🎉

Here's how it played out...

💰 Revenue: $1,760(US)

💰 Profit: $785(US)

Here's what's working, what I've learnt, and what I'm planning throughout March 👇

This was the first time I'd ever crossed $1k in monthly revenue as a maker 💸

Although it's a gargantuan personal milestone, it didn't feel quite like I'd always imagined. Instead of celebrating, I just kept my head down and focussed on building a great product.

This month, I also made the decision to close down Maker Threads, which has allowed me to focus all of my time and energy on one thing.

This has already started to pay off, and it's something I'd recommend more makers do.

March roadmap 🗺

This month, I'll be focussing on building out my own distribution channels. While both Udemy and YouTube have shown some positive early signs, I'm yet to begin experimenting with Twitter.

I've only just created an account here 👉 @buildingbubble

Doubling down on one thing will allow it to grow twice as fast 🚀

By the end of the month, I'd also like to have a pre-launch product that I can begin to sell on my own self-hosted platform.

Udemy has been a great way to find early traction, but owning my own distribution will allow me to keep 100% of all sales - balancing out the disconnect between revenue and profit.

Pretty sick! How do you make MRR without a website for the product yet (from your other post?)? Is it through selling directly? That is impressive and keen to learn!

My new product is a series of online no-code courses.

Instead of spending time building my own website, I prioritised uploading them to Udemy to help with initial distribution.

While Udemy's payout structure isn't the most generous, it's still allowed me to validate my course content and start generating revenue.

      Hope this helps!

This is very smart - thinking about initial dist. first instead of going the default way of "my own site". Good reminder. Thanks Lachlan!

Can you share the links to your courses? Love to check them out!

UPDATE: no worries, I found it via your Twitter!

Congrats man... smart of you to close down anything that's distracting you from growing your money maker. Now focus on marketing the shit out of it!
