My book is done. How's the Gumroad preorder page?

Gumroad link: https://gum.co/YPXAA

I'm really unsure about best practices for Gumroad product pages. Is it OK for a Gumroad page to get really long? What's expected in terms of images vs text?

The primary audiences that will see this are, in order:

  1. Referred after an email series winds up
  2. Linked from my blog

I think IH is over saying "Roast me!" but I am very open to blunt feedback.

Great job, @blakerson! It's really well written copy.

Consider stating what you can get from this book that you can't get anywhere else. $79 is a steep price considering that content on this subject is freely available. I'm sure you have some unique selling points, and I think you should state what they are.

If you plan to do email outreach to promote this product, my website can probably help you. SplashPad (https://getsplashpad.com) helps you write marketing emails about your product that grab attention and sell by providing language suggestions while you write.

    Best of luck to you.

Hey, thank you! Indeed, I have a lot of work to do on the pricing objection.

Whether for this book or for the next product, I'm curious to see how well SplashPad works. I'll give it a try!

        Glad to hear it, @blakerson

Congrats on finishing the book! Some thoughts:

    1. Landing page subtitle seems a bit wordy. Maybe "Bring your app's analytics from 0 to 100" is more straightforward. I personally don't react well to time scales like "in half a day" or "in 5 minutes" because realistically it always takes longer to implement (which I don't see as a negative, I just want honest). Also see point 5. "0 to 100" is a common phrase which is good, but maybe there is a stronger word that that could add confidence

    2. Answer "what are analytics and why do I need them?" It's fine to rely on your audience being aware of analytics, but you cannot rely on them realizing that they need to improve what they've got so far.

    3. Add more specificity to who this helps than just "for your project." I think defining some personas will make it more understandable. Is this for SaaS apps? E-Commerce apps? Games? Productivity? All of the above? I am sure your book covers this, but your landing page should as well. You want to answer the question of "is this for me?" very quickly. Even something simple like "whether you're working on a game, SaaS product, or productivity app, setting up analytics correctly will pay dividends."

    4. Add supporting content examples. I'm unfamiliar with gumroad, but if possible I would add an excerpt of a case study or other useful info, similar to Amazon's view in to the fist few pages of a book. This is a difficult topic to verbally describe and pitch without showing true value up front.

    5. I am not sure about the price of $79 tied to the wording "in half a day." I am not saying this information is not worth $79, but I generally would not pay that much for something that I could learn and implement in half a day. Of course, people pay for courses at this price and higher all the time, but "half a day" may not be your main selling point. An example of an alternative could be something like "Improve your analytics with just 12 lines of code." Then someone might think "well crap, that's easy, but WHICH 12 lines of code?"

    Hope this helps!

Wow, this is a lot. Analytics is a big world, and there's so much that I need to give to give a customer a complete takeaway. (hmmm, maybe I should be selling a productized consulting service instead?) Thank you very much for the detailed thoughts!

For sure! Happy to help. Did not intend it to turn into a wall of text but I like giving feedback

I agree with the points that @RealNathanLatka made, and I would double down on making all your statements much clearer to the avg person. In addition, I'll say the title image isn't strong enough IMO. I would treat this as a book cover analysis and head over to Amazon. Check out the covers of titles touching similar topics and see what the best-sellers are doing. Make your own version of that so visitors to this page are connecting with the image immediately.

I never would have thought of that. Thank you so much!

Thank you for looking! I'm excited to finally watch this this weekend.

Looks good! Instead of 0 to 100, I would maybe go with "accelerate" if that's not too cliche. Since a lot of potential buyers won't be starting from zero

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate the take.
