Would love some tips - please roast my course in the comments!
The course is Ethical Hacking: Pentesting and Securing Web Applications
Context:
- Hosted on Udemy
- Conversion rate for Ethical hacking is apparently 10% (this includes free conversions)
- Over 170,000 students (many free)
- 1,520 ratings at 4.2 stars
- 4 hours video - with 2 assignments (each takes ~2 hours)
- Cost AUD$109.99 (but it's always discounted because it's on Udemy)
- Most sales happen at like 90% off
- It's an ethical hacking course (so there's tons of search volume)
- 1% conversion rate is for when it's paid (free conversion rate is extremely high)
Low conversion rate when it's paid but free conversion rate is high? That's normal. Advertising shows your ads to more people. Some who might not be interested or warm to your offer.
However, you might want to look into the following:
Also, other things that might improve conversions by a little bit. You've got only one course on udemy. Make your bio about that course.
Why are you the right teacher for them? What's your background? How did you learn about cybersecurity? What are your credentials? Are you certified? Show it. Did you find vulnerability in major software?
You can also improve your course description to be more engaging. You cover the contents of your course in the description, but not the benefits for the people who will purchase it. And if they want to know the contents, they can already look at the course content.
How is this course going to make a difference in their life?
Thanks for the tips! I should have mentioned that all the traffic is organic from videos I made before the course and general Udemy SEO.
I'll tinker with my course description in line with what you've suggested
Then it makes total sense that the people who arrive to the udemy course from your videos on Youtube would convert better. They already know you.
From who would you rather you purchase a course from: a pure stranger or from someone you just watched a video of and clicked on a link to get more info about his course offer?
Welcome to the concept of warm vs cold lead. One is ready to buy, the other, not yet. A warm lead will definitely convert better.
I'm not sure if this is allowed on udemy, you would have to check their terms and conditions, but in your description you could maybe add links to your youtube videos. This way, people could get a better feel of wether they're interested or not.
