My day job is too good to indie hack
Like a lot of people here, I’d love to have my own independent SaaS one day. However, I work at a very well known tech company in the US, and it would take years to match my current salary, not to mention I have an amazing group of teammates.
I’m finding it difficult to have the motivation to indie hack when I have a very high paying, stable, job. If this post comes off as a humble brag, I do apologize, but I’d genuinely like to know what other indie hackers in this situation have done to stay motivated.
The same situation as I have. I am software engineer and even manager, I have a very good salary (especially according to the place where I live right now). But, I have a dream or maybe even goal already, to do not work for daily bases needs after my 40th anniversary (food, closes, bills, children needs, etc). It is a pretty simple and clear goal, but it motivates me to do something which may help me achieve that goal. I am almost 34-years old now, so I have only still 6 year to accomplish.
At the same time, I don't have such pressure as other makers might have, because if I fail, I still have a job. It allows me to be more brave and experiment.
One issue - time. Because need to split it between work, family and your projects.
