My Design as a subscription service website is finally finished today!

This is going to be my first post on Indiehacker community...

Of course after getting the approval to post here...

Super excited to announced that...

My one person design subscription agency website

has been finally finished today!

Small wins count, so thought about sharing what's going on so far...

Today my design as a subscription service website has been finished...

Website Itself is very much similar and inspired by designjoy.

below is a little sneak-peak from the web editor itself :)

The challenge is I'm going to build this agency with

  1. $100 only.
  2. A Laptop + Wifi.

that's it.

Right now I've spent zero money but...

moving forward there are things that will require me

to put some money down...

so I kept a $100 budget for this.

  1. A Domain $18/yr
  2. Company registration $30

Apart from these I don't really have any expense.

After these two expenses I should left with $52.

which we will keep handy in case unexpected expense shows up.

As they do all the time jajaja.

And from now I will share regular updates of each and every step

I take to get this agency up and running smoothly and

profitably as a one person business.

The motive is to show what's possible without...

having startup funding, big teams or a college degree.

P.S If you're interested to follow along with my journey of taking

a brand new agency from nothing (or $100) to a...

fully functioning agency of one.

than like this post and give me a follow

I'll be sharing regular updates with 100% transparency so you can see what it takes to grow a company of one online with almost no money.

    Congrats!
    However, I would make the branding...how can I say...more authentic 🤐
It looks very much alike a similar business.

    1. 2

That's the politest way of saying plagiarised ever - haha!

  2. 2

I'm sorry but there is a difference to being inspired by DesignJoy and copy and pasting the website. You have literally copy and pasted and just changed a few colours, you've even used his "latest project" images, they aren't your latest projects so how can you justify this? I am sorry but I cannot support copying like this. If you are actually a designer, then why don't you design your own home page? Seriously, this is not indiehacking it's indiecopying.

    1. 1

Those project image is temporarily set there so I can adjust the size and see how it will look together, As per the design part, I'm building my own projects and will replace it with it. As you can see website is not yet launched, Once it's launched you will be able to see my own design projects and some changes of my own.

Hey! First off, massive congrats on getting your design subscription agency website up and running! 🎉 I've been on a similar journey with my site (still in development), hypehustle. While I've also drawn some inspiration from DesignJoy, I'm aiming to carve out a slightly unique niche by offering additional marketing services. As things progress, I'm also looking to network and hopefully build a team as the business scales.

I genuinely admire your hustle, especially with the $100 budget challenge. It's super inspiring to see what's possible without the need for huge startup funds or a big team. I'll be eagerly following your updates and cheering you on from the sidelines.

Wishing you all the best, and I'm super keen to see how your journey unfolds. Keep rocking it! 🚀

very nice, im doing something very similar. I would say it's very DesignJoy looking, the scribbles and layout. To be fair ive seen quite a few design agencies using a very similar aesthetic.

    1. 2

Just seen the "inspired by Designjoy" bit.

    2. 1

He's actually copy and pasted the DesignJoy website including Brett's "latest projects" - which clearly aren't his. @channingallen not sure how a plagiarised website makes it to the front page of indiehackers? Really disappointed.

      1. 1

Website is finished not launched yet in public, The website will be updated with proper linking and projects of my own. Its just there to see how they will look once published.

        1. 1

So why do you say "Today my design as a subscription service website has been finished"? If the scribbles are still copied and pasted, much of the text is still copied and pasted, and the example projects are copied and pasted. You haven't even started, let alone finished.

Here's the problem I have, you are clearly not a designer as no self-respecting designer would copy and past someone else's design and say "website is finished", if you were a designer, then why don't you design your own home page?

    3. 1

Yup, Would love to see what you're doing. My twitter is https://twitter.com/rklokash

    Hey, congrats!
It's not a small win! Setting some time aside to create the design / code / host etc, etc. On top of all that on a very little budget. That's a big one for sure.

Like the other comment asked, is it live? What is the website URL?
I would love to check it out and provide feedback.

I see by the screenshot that you followed the style of DesignJoy, and I've seen a few other design subscription creating a very similar website. I guess if it works for him, it should work for you - but do you wonder if your website would look too similar to others and not have a unique factor so people can remember? Again, don't have a link to check it out myself.

Anyways, congrats on the milestone and keep it up!
    Cheers,

    Amadeu

Thank you for your comment, honesty after sharing this post I never expected anyone would take interest in what I've been building alone. After so many days and lonely time I felt I have people around me that are curious and motivated.

The website is about to go live in couple days, will drop a link here in the reply once it does. would love any sort of feedback I can get from you.

The website has been built on a free software so it's very simple and has no animations or extra effects.. It just gets the job done.

My initial goal is to launch it and see how things works and once I get a paying customer I will look into getting a webflow subscription for a year. I'm running on a $100 budget. completely bootstrapped. one person business.

In terms of having similar design, I think there is a plenty of fish in the sea. If you look at the pricing you will see pricing is what separates us. Even though we have similar design I'm competing in a completely different market due to pricing difference. I wanted to create a similar version just more better, more affordable and more fast.

I'm not married, have no kids. I have time and energy... I can deliver more and faster.

hopefully one day I will be competing with my sole inspiration designjoy.

I wouldn't waste the time, money and energy registering a legal entity (a company) until you're sure this venture is working. It's a REAL pain in the ass managing the admin of an incorporated company. Wait till you're doing a half decent amount of mrr.

    1. 2

I guess it depends where he lives and where he is opening the business?
I live in Canada and there is a sole proprietor business registration, which is basically you as a company, so tax would be "combined" in a way. Some of the benefits are that allows us to receive payments and open bank accounts - without that, I would have to bill using my name and I wanted to look more professional. It also makes it easier for tax purposes later on (easier to organize and separate what's personal and what's not)

So, it did make sense to me to register.
      Cheers

registering a business is necessary to ensure professional and smooth transactions as a company. Even though I'm just one person in company I need to look professional as well.

Hey guys, I'm going to also start agency. Let's connect here to grow and learn -

Others have commented on how "lifted" the design is. I understand you plan to make some changes, but to the extent that it still looks like DesignJoy, what it communicates to me is that you aren't, at the end of the day, a designer. I mean, it's hard to imagine a real designer not seeing the launching of their own site as a chance to make a statement with a completely free hand?

  9. 1

    This is awesome.

Huge congrats for getting your business up and running. I just launched a similar business called GhostAgent. I owned a UI/UX design consultancy business for about 10 years and I think there is a HUGE market for subscription-based businesses like this.

I believe that there is so much design work that is needed for so many companies out there. If you are interested, I'd love to connect to share ideas of how to drive both of our businesses forward. Feel free to reach out if you are interested.

Keep it up, and best of luck to you!

I hear that this kind of business requires networking to get clients mainly. It must be hard for someone just getting started.

Anyway congrats & wish you best of luck.

    Is the website live yet?

    1. 1

      Not yet, soon going live.
