With a few interviews underway, and a mailing list in the hundreds, it's an interesting point to stop and think what has been done with Open Startup List in the past several weeks.
It's fun to create stuff and share with people, as a first experience in creating I recommend it to anyone.
If you haven't launched before, just create something, feel what it means to launch, feel what it means to have over 1000 people viewing your website on launch day and then feel what it means to have a drop in traffic a day after launch. Feel what it means to send your very first newsletter to hundred of people.
It's important to experience these things, especially in the world of entrepreneurship, you want to move fast, experience things, try stuff.
Leading by example, I've a link to the traffic of the website, so in some way OpenStartupList.com is sharing metrics as well.
Also, I'm interviewing the Open Startups on my list. True, it's a small list, but quality over quantity, right 😉
Just do it, even Pieter started with a curated list of places to travel and work remotely and grew from there.
If it's something that makes you curious, and you think it can be done better or is doesn't exist yet, go ahead, you will learn something new.
I also made a listing site called afftable.com. i'm just wondering how much traffics is required to monetize the site.
Also, Did you see a consistent of traffic after launch? I know there is a drop but how many are left?
After the initial drop, I've seen that daily traffic ranges between ~20 to ~50 people daily.
What's your experience like with afftable @sillycube?
I've no idea how much traffic is required to monetize, I guess it depends on the type of monetization you're after.
I just put afftable on HN and DN yesterday. So I don't know yet. But I guess it will somehow similar to your figures.
