I have had the experience of working with programmers in the past, both for work and personal use. My experience has given me an education with some of the basics in regard to knowing what I need in order to have different types of applications and websites developed.
Prior to discussing my experience with Bubble, I want to say that Indie Hackers has been a GREAT resource and helped me in a huge way to learn more about the tools and resources that are available! If you haven't personally reached out to anyone for help on Indie Hackers, then I would highly suggest that you do! Without reaching out to people - I would have never vetted the approach that I was taking and I would have wasted tons of money!
With that said - I have taken on Bubble.io for use of building an MVP. For me personally, it that it suits me pretty well for what I am trying to accomplish on a scalability level. It's a little bit tough at times , and I have complained about the learning curve and other things, but after persevering through it I can say that it's worth it.
Here's the approach that I used to get through the frustration of my learning curve:
Confirmed that I needed specific features for my website, but I didn't know which approach was the best so I spoke with several people to IH to vet my features and which platforms would help from a no-code approach.
Watched this video to confirm which approach was best for me (after ruling out WordPress and outsourcing development)

I went through the bubble tutorials that were provided, and then I purchased a template that had SOME of the features that I needed for my site. (This helped with the bare bones for the DB and it was relevant to what I needed for my specific project).
I used the bubble blogs to build out some templates that had features that were relevant to me. The helped me understand the infrastructure and what does what and why it does what it does

I watched videos that were relevant to some specific features that I needed to build out
I added the features from the previous builds that I saved in my templates from the how to blogs.
In short: I took the bubble lessons. I purchased a template that was relevant to what I needed and then I tweaked a large amount of it. I built some of the example tutorials that had features that I needed so that I could understand what does what and why it does. I looked up some videos on YouTube and NoCodify.
Goo luck!
This is great @PMichaelB, thanks for sharing! Another learning option you might be interested in exploring is the bootcamp AirDev, the Bubble agency I work for, is sponsoring.
It's a free remote bootcamp to teach a small group of non-coders how to build using our no-code approach. We've hosted the bootcamp two times before this now as well so I think it's in a pretty good place curriculum wise! It’s just 3 weeks long, and you'll build things like Twitter, and AirBnB clones. Can find more info here if you're interested: airdev.co/bootcamp.
I sent you a message regarding the bootcamp on FB.
Thanks for sharing! I've been wanting to learn more about it but not sure what side project to test it out with :D
If you make an account they have some walkthroughs that allow you to get a hands-on experience with the app! Aside from that.... I went through tutorials that are relevant to my project. It's been quite an adventure.
Hey Michael. What are your thoughts on the platform so far? Did you try anything similar before?

Hi Harris! I will definitely check that out. I am currently struggling with the API connector that they have. When it is a prebuilt API; it seems to be easy to use. However, when it is a fresh API, that is when the level of difficulty arises. There doesn't seem to be much help with how to navigate an API like embedly.
I will definitely start to dig a little deeper, including on stackoverflow.
