My First Post on Product Hunt 👽
G'day Indie Hackers!
I've been working on a side gig for the past few months and wanted to test the waters on PH so decided to post a Notion template I've been using to track all the books I've read. (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/notion-book-shelf-free)
Scouring the internet, I came up with a few "tactics" to get noticed more;
- Post between 12:01 and 12:10 for optimal posting times.
- Use a GIF as your product image.
- Include images and a video (I didn't include a video)
- Post on all your socials (I have the total of 30 people on IG... so not much help there)
- Be personal in your first comment
- Add some PH badges in your product
I'm sure most of you are well aware of these small tips & tricks, and ultimately my post barely got noticed (6 upvotes 🎉). However, I still think its a good idea to through a project or two up there before your "real" product just to get a better understanding of how it all works and maybe gain a new follower.
I'll be doing another test post next week with a small no code thing I'm working on (https://habits.softr.io/) - essentially a database of all "good" habits (I'll eventually add useful resources to each of these).
So, if anyone out has some advice, I'm all ears 👂!
I think this might be unpopular, but I think that waiting to post on PH is one of the best way to guarantee a good launch. By waiting you get a few benefits
Interesting point of view. How would you recommend getting those early adopters to refine your product before PH? E.g. Here, socials etc
Yep exactly. It's slow, and you certainly won't be the talk of the town, but it gives you critical time to improve.
