At first, I was tempted to evaluate the idea I had in my mind. But, I wanted to quickly build an MVP and put it out for people to use for free in return for their feedbacks and suggestions.
I'll briefly explain what my product is about,
Hence, I request you people to have a look at my product and if you find it useful, feel free to register it's free for the next 2 months - https://www.mailmycustomer.com. I will add the features mentioned at the bottom of this page in the next 2 months, you can also send feature requests to me directly from the product dashboard.
Now, I will share the lessons I learned after quitting my job while building this product,
Time management - You will feel like you have all the time in the world after leaving your day job. Time is precious. If you don't schedule your time and stick to it, you'll end up wasting it.
Tech decisions - I'm a coder. I can tell you how tempting it would be to try the hottest thing right now. Just don't do that, when you're bulding your product. I have wasted a lot of time doing this. Start with what you know. You'll be able to ship quicker. That's what really matters. People need a working product, they don't care what programming language you use to build it.
Get something done daily - You must try your best to get something done daily. Making small efforts daily will make you achieve something big some day.
Learn from others - Follow people on Twitter and Indiehackers who have already done what you're trying to achieve. You will learn a lot from them. I can tell you it can be your shortcut to success.
Launch soon & iterate - This is important because you'll know if it's worth spending your time, you'll know if your product is a hit/miss. You can always add that one feature if you already have a working product. Launch with minimum possible features & improve over time.
Don't strive for perfection - It's okay, if you can't get that button to right align. You must not give attention to this kind of stuff, if it's not impacting the funtionality of your product. You must be able to prioritize the important things and work on it. I have wasted countless hours perfecting things.
It's okay if your product doesn't scale at first - You must have paying customers first to get going. Don't ever think about scaling if you don't even have paying customers. Build a working product, acquire customers then you can think about scaling. This, I learned from Daniel.
Don't give up - Time to time, you will come across a task that will overwhelm you. Don't give in. Trust me, it's worth hustling. The feel you get after succesfully completing a tough task is surreal. Remember why you started.
I'd really love to know what you people think.
Love it, man. Thanks for sharing. These points are spot on.
Thanks Michael 😇
