My First Sale After 10 Years of Blogging
Hello friends, I am very excited to announce that I got my first sale today. While I have been blogging for the last 10 years, I have never really sold anything, didn't have any book, course, or digital product. Could you maybe also share how much traffic your blog is getting and how big your email list is? (if you don't mind) Did you wait until you reached a certain amount of followers / traffic?
It would be interesting to see how many sales you get through Twitter, email, and organic traffic from your blog.
I'm curious because I've just started writing my own programming blog at the beginning this year, and I'm thinking of repurposing my blog posts as well and put them into an e-book.
My blog receives more than 1M views per month, I don't have any email list yet but do I have a blog subscriber of around 15K. My suggestion is to write a book or create a course, those are better options.

Thanks, yes, it's an awesome feeling. I enjoy writing and that's why I am able to publish around 2000+ programming articles but writing a book is so much resistance, especially if you're doing it the first time. I leveraged a lot of my existing content which is already appreciated by readers to create this book.
Eey, that's smart. Repurposing your content. But I guess, in the structure of a book, it could feel a bit like playing Tetris.
No, not really, my article is actually a very in-depth list of interview questions and covers particular topics like OOP, Java Collections, Multithreading well. By combining them together provides much better value and comprehensive prep material. I focused heavily on structuring the content so that it makes preparing a particular topic well.
Ah okay. Tetris was more of a reference for putting it all in line of your book structure. Nice that you were able to add more value to it.

I have also been running a blog (https://confessionsoftheprofessions.com) for the past 10 years as well. I had figured out ways to monetize it, mostly by charging "rush fees" for guest posts to get articles out faster, as I don't spend all day on it. And it did lead to an amazing project which led to my creation of a book over the quarantine lockdown. I don't think anyone of us really knows what we're going to do, or whether we'll seize an opportunity or not, and there are only so many opportunities we can grasp at... and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, but when they do.. it is amazingly sweet, especially when you've got people buying your book which justifies that maybe you're putting something out there into the world.. that is useful and helpeful to many people.
As for me... and what COVID-19 along with an idea for my website led to... I don't think anyone else can say they've had a chance to speak with a woman from every country the world, as I have. Putting it on Kindle and locking it into Amazon is just easiest and pays most. Writing a book is half the battle.. no one ever talks about the marketing, hehe.

I chose @Gumroad becuase people trust it and I have seen many creators got success with Gumroad. Though, I also have plans to put the book on other platforms, mainly Kindle to make it more available. I haven't checked woocommer, or easy digital download, would you mind telling more about them? Is it worth to put the book there?
