My first solopreneur business failed—some reflections.
I’m a business student, passionate about business and technology. In April 2023 I started a blog (fintiux.com). The blog failed.
Since I was young I want to start a digital business. In 2023 I decided I want to start, try and fail if it is necessary. I had a lot of doubts before start, but I did.
The original idea was to start a blog and monetization it through adsense. The first months was bad, I already knew that, it take time for google to index your blog.
After a few months I started a newsletter sharing interviews with solopreneurs. I just have 33 subscribers.
I am a student and I don’t have so much free time. The blog still have a small amount of visitors per month, but I can't monetize it.
After 9 months working on it, I decided to close the site. Here is what I learned from my this venture:
- Make a better research before start something new.
- Offer something where you can really add value
- You don't need to start today. Take the time to find a worthwhile idea
- Validate the idea quickly before investing a lot of time or money
How can you expect something to succeed, having no free time to commit to it, to start with? Given your assumptions might be wrong it is also questionable you draw the right conclusions from this either? I guess solution to your problem, having no free time, is either your drop out, wait to finish your studies, or start working more hours and working harder on it?
