My first week launching a community for teachers + Tech Stack
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a win I had in launching my community this week! Classdoor is a community for Australian teachers to discuss ideas, share successes and support each other (https://classdoor.com.au/).
I made Classdoor in response to feeling that teacher facebook groups being more focussed on job advertisements and quick resource downloads over quality discussion of the profession.
We had 30 members join us in our first week, with some amazing stories and tips already shared!
I wanted to share with you all our tech stack, onboarding process and how we attract new members:
- Carousel/reel/single image posts on my Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/anthonybochrinis/) attracts followers and then I advertise Classdoor via IG stories.
- Instagram bio links to our website (https://classdoor.com.au/) where prospects can read up on how the community works and what is on offer. I've added in some free teaching resources to help attract more traffic.
- The "Join Today" button on our website links to a Typeform survey (https://www.typeform.com/). This will ensure that only people who are serious about joining our community will commit to completing a 7-minute survey.
- Using Zapier (https://zapier.com/), any completed forms are immediately sent an invite via email to join our community. At the same time, I use the Bonjoro (https://www.bonjoro.com/) app on my phone to instantly record and send a quick video to a new member welcoming them as part of our onboarding process.
- Members log into our online community, which is built using the amazing service over at https://circle.so
Currently, Classdoor is free to join. As members join, I will be adding in a paid option to access certain spaces, but I won't be focussing this until early 2022.
