My framework for finding product ideas

As a maker, a problem that I often had was trying to find ideas for products to build. I'm probably not alone: "That's not an easy task".

That's why today I'd like to share with you a framework I've built over time to quickly generate ideas for products. Of course, I can't guarantee that will make you a billionaire, but at least, if you don't find an idea of something to build, it could be something to try ;)

  • Pattern 1: Pick something you like, and improve it (that's how my current app, Datelist.io is born)
  • Pattern 2: Build a simple plugin / an extension for a tool you love (for instance, I've done a Google Chrome Extension, which reached a few thousand installs )
  • Pattern 3: Translate a popular tool in your native tongue (if you're not speaking only English)
  • Pattern 4: Build something cool on a super recent trend (then, use feedbacks to turn it into a really useful product)
  • Pattern 5: Build something that you would use for yourself, at least, it will have one happy user

PS: If you like this list, would add something, or if you already built something successfully using the patterns I'll describe, it would be great to discuss it together
