My Graveyard of Domains

I've been in the indie hacker game for a while, and my domain portfolio is less of a collection and more of a graveyard. Each one is a tombstone for a project that didn't quite make it. There’s yaychay.com, the one where I was convinced I'd build the next AI video dubbing tool. Then there’s 5tep.com, wiki how but in 5 bullet point format. The list goes on, and every year, the renewal notices from GoDaddy arrive like a painful reminder of my past failures.

I'm not alone in this. I've talked to countless other creators who have their own list of dormant domains. We're a community of dreamers who buy domains with the best intentions, only to get pulled in a million different directions. A new idea sparks, a different project takes priority, and suddenly, you're looking at a bill for hundreds, even thousands, of dollars for websites that don't even exist.

The problem isn't the ideas; it’s the wasted potential. We pay for these domains, but we don't have the time to build on them. They're just sitting there, gathering digital dust and costing us money.

The Birth of DomainPark

My co-founders and I had this exact problem. We're a self-funded team, and we've poured our hearts and souls into projects that didn't go as planned. We've got a collective graveyard of domains that we've been sitting on, and we were tired of losing money on them.

We figured there had to be a way to turn this liability into an asset. We needed a solution that was fast, easy, and didn't require us to spend weeks or months building a full-blown website for a domain we weren't even sure about.

That's the philosophy behind DomainPark. It's our answer to the frustration of wasted domains. We built it as an indie hacker's tool, because we understand the vibe: you want to be able to spin up something quickly, see if it works, and move on if it doesn't, all without a huge investment of time or money.

DomainPark uses a bit of AI to instantly create a revenue-generating affiliate store for your domain. It’s not just a generic ad page; we make sure the products match your domain's theme. For a domain like brickyclicks.co.uk, it will automatically create a marketplace for lego products. The idea is to create a site that people will actually want to click on, giving you a chance to earn a commission.

How it Works in the Real World

We built this for ourselves, and we've made it as simple as possible. You just paste your unused domain into DomainPark, and we'll have a fully functional affiliate store up and running in a few seconds. We handle all the technical stuff, like connecting to affiliate networks and making sure the site is mobile-friendly.

Of course, you can customize it, too. Change the colors, write your own blog posts, and manage the products on your store. But if you just want to set it and forget it, you can do that, too. We even have a dashboard where you can track your earnings and clicks, so you can see exactly how much money your "failed" domains are making you.

For us, DomainPark is about more than just making money. It's about turning our past failures into future opportunities. It's about not sitting on wasted domains and instead, giving them a purpose.

If you have a digital graveyard of your own, we'd love for you to try out DomainPark and let us know what you think.
