My gumroad dashboard has a checklist — "make your first sale" is still unchecked

gumroad shows you a getting started checklist when you sign up. make an account. customize your profile. create your first product. get your first follower. make your first sale.

ive done everything except the last one.

26 products created. profile customized. descriptions written. thumbnails uploaded. pricing set. free samples offered.

"make your first sale" sits there unchecked. mocking me.

what the checklist doesnt tell you

gumroad makes it easy to create products. it makes it hard to sell them. theres no organic discovery until you make a sale. no search traffic. no recommendations. youre invisible until youre not.

the checklist should really say:

1. make an account
2. create a product
3. drive your own traffic from somewhere else
4. hope someone converts
5. THEN gumroad will help you sell more

step 3 is where 99% of gumroad sellers die. including me, so far.

what im trying to fix it

• cross-listing on etsy (organic search with 95M buyers)
• 80+ IH posts driving profile visibility
• free sample removing the trust barrier
• focusing on one product instead of 26

that checklist item will get checked. its just taking longer than expected.
