My lessons from launching an enterprise product on Product Hunt

Hey everyone,

Wanted to share some lessons from our side on how our recent PH launch went.I’ve posted about what we did to prepare on IH before. Now I want to share more on how that went:

We got the #9 spot

Not the best - but it’s something. Truth is, PH is hard. And competition is unfair.

We got 10 offers for Paid Upvotes, and no doubt others use it.

Still, we’re happy with this spot!

Which put us as featured in the newsletter

Even though we didn’t get to the top 3, we still got featured! You can check it out here.

Traffic was plenty… But sign ups were not.

Despite all of this and the hundreds of people visiting, sign ups weren’t crazy high. And this leads me to the first lesson. For a product where the main audience is enterprise customers, this was to be expected. Enterprise buyers don’t browse Product Hunt. Still, since our product is high-ticket, one single customer converting from PH could make the whole initiative a success.

Category SEO is important

I think this could be important for you. We often think of PH as just the launch day. But there’s more to it.

One of our goals was to be present in 2 categories: “Hacking” and “Security”. And we did it. We’re in the top positions for “Security”, and currently we’re sitting in the #1 spot for “Hacking”. It’s an evergreen traffic source.

So how do I rate this? A success, I would say. Sign ups were not that great, but our high-ticket offsets that. And the added traffic from the categories will come in nice!

How do you read this? You can check out more about us here.
