My main launching method (PH) doesn't fit expectations

Last year a launched on PH with the smallest product called Voicer, and did nothing to promote the launch - however it took 4th place of that day with a lot of traffic to the website and comments and many upvotes!

But today I launched my second product (Widget-Board) and I'm on average 14th place so far, and there are only 9 hours to go, so I don't think things are going to magically happen.

I got by now 27 new sign ups for the free plan and not one paying user. My ego is a little hurt, thought this was something that would really lift off quickly.

It's not that I'm not ready to do the work, it's just that I really wanted to focus on developing the product with a decent organic growth rate but it seems that I'll have to put the marketer hat on any case.

Any specific growth hacks you think I should use for WB?
Already have a referring mechanism, but nothing can be really tested with 30-50 users. Not even talking about active users.

Also, not enough comments on PH and no feedback at all from the website (there is a button on every single page) - how can one achieve product-market fit?

Obviously, I'll be happy to hear what you think of Widget-Board, and if you want to cheer me up please upvote Widget-Board on PH.

Hey, I love the idea. I've been dabbling with a widget based builder myself (although quite diff from Widget Board).

My question is... who is it for specifically?

      Thanks for the feedback!

I've been asked a lot the past two days who am I aiming it for, and I have to admit that I don't have a great answer.

WB is intended to be a platform to create boards that can contain any type of content. So any type of user that uses a computer or mobile for personal or work related use is a potential user.

I am trying to narrow down all the personas that can be aimed for by WB, to the persona with the most relevant use cases and a decent market size.

Hey thanks for sharing this. I love hearing about other guys's launch experience. I'm very curious how your promotional experience went beyond PH in your first successful product.

My first impression with your ph post is I'm not sure about the tag line: "Visual planning, curating and productivity tool". It's a bit too abstract I think.

I'm just a fellow indiehacker so take this with grain of salt. I think you need to work on the product concept and relaunch on product hunt. For example, Pocket used to be called "read it later". I think that was an excellent branding. A good concept product helps with word of mouth I think. Makes people easy to share.

Also, I launched on PH last week as well. It did receive some upvotes but received almost no comments so I wouldn't worry about it. Cheer up:) and pls critique if you can. https://www.producthunt.com/posts/inksprout-for-linkedin-post

      Thanks for the feedback Masatoshi!

The promotional experience with my first product was absolutely none! Just posted it to PH! literally the only thing I did.

From various comments and replies across different communities, I understand that my branding / marketing is too broad. I need to find the niche market and specify all the copy to it.

I saw you product btw, and although I have no use of linkedin whatsoever, I think that the idea behind the it is smart and useful, and the value of it will be evaluated based on quality of the summaries it creates.
      Good luck!

You haven't made it into trending yet, so you're not going to get a ton of organic Product Hunt traffic or votes until you're visible on the front page.

Usually you have to seed those first few upvotes or get an influencer to share it from a relevant Twitter account, to get that traffic that pushes it into the front page, and then "the magic happens" 🎉.

Not a critique, I think the execution on this is spectacular. It's probably the best-made, most robust "new tab extension" I've seen. But, I don't think it has the novelty required to get insane results from Product Hunt without a bit of hustle.

      Thanks for commenting!

I haven't done anything about the launch except tell a few friends and asking them to upvote (I actually think it did worse than good, PH algorithm is a riddle)... It sounds naïve but as I wrote that's what I did last year and it got me 4th place.

      Thanks for the product review.
