The design has a dated feel to it to be honest. Kind of looks like a free template from 2010

Yeah, I don’t disagree with that. I did not have many ideas when I started it to be honest. The point of the design is to be simple.
I might redesign it in the future.

The blog looks alright. You could add more content, so that one could evaluate better how the posts are layed next to each other. Try to add some images for more catchiness.
Also an RSS feed and comment section would be essential.
Currently working on design and SEO improvements based on the feedback I receive.
I do plan to add an RSS feed and a comments section with webmentions soon.
I have a few ideas for the next few blog posts so they are coming as well.
As for the images, can you maybe give an example?

For example, my technical blog DjangoTricks has a cover image for each post to set the mood of the article:
https://djangotricks.blogspot.com/
That image is also taken as Open Graph/Twitter Card image to be shown in Social Networks when shared.
Blog posts with images receive more engagement from readers.
