My SaaS Journey - Chapter 1

I don't care if anybody will read this.. because this isn't for you... this is for me. You see, I have decided to start my own SaaS, and its not going to be AI coded like many people have been doing right now... it's going to be coded by hand. Sure I might use the occasional ChatGPT or Claude here and there, but one important part is that I cannot risk my customers data just to launch my app earlier. Although my front-end will most likely be made with AI, because for making sites that are easy to navigate through, AI is the best. Now you can choose to follow my blogs in this journey, but I don't give a shit about your choice of following my journey or not, and whether you like it or not, that's the brutal truth. Nobody will be caring about my journey except for my loved ones. So, onto business. What is my SaaS? Well I haven't released it, so I won't talk about it the idea itself too much just yet. However, my tech stack is somewhere I can start, so I'm using stripe for payment, rust for the back-end, PostgreSQL for the Database and HTML / CSS / JS (vanilla, yup) for the Website. Why all of these, well, I love rust, know how to use PostgreSQL and HTML CSS and JS for the front-end keeps it simple. Now some people might be against this but you do you. If you have any advice for me, its all welcome, but if you have hate for me, my tech stack or my unprofessionalism, your welcome to get ignored in the comment section. I will post a more detailed essay on this idea but do wait a bit, as I have school to handle as well.

Really liked this breakdown - clear, honest, and focused on action.

The way you approached learning by doing really stood out. That self-awareness is rare and way more useful than pretending to have it all figured out early.

    Looking forward to chapter 2.

Love the raw energy here. Building something by hand in a sea of AI-generated apps is refreshing. We recently shipped a fully custom-coded eCommerce SaaS starter kit — no shortcuts on core logic, just clean Node.js + React and real product thinking. Curious to follow your journey — and happy to swap notes when you’re ready to share more.

Impressive commitment to building your SaaS from the ground up—your focus on data privacy and thoughtful tech choices stands out. Rust, PostgreSQL, and a clean front end make a strong stack. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. Wishing you the best on this journey!
