My side project for discovering Shopify stores

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if I could get your take on my side project called www.shopifind.co

A few months ago I was toying with the idea of creating an ecommerce site. I didn't have a clue where to start so I went straight to the official Shopify store directory to get some inspiration...only there's no such thing :-(

There are a few sites like ecomm.design which focus on beautiful ecommerce designs and are pretty cool, but not exactly what I was after. I wanted to be able to see new stores every day, browse categories and get ideas from existing stores, products, branding and designs.

So I decided to make Shopifind, a content site for Shopify stores. My goal is simply to share as many stores as possible and hopefully inspire visitors to create their own successful store.

That's it, let me know what you think :-)

Thanks,
Chris

Hey I built https://saaspages.xyz/ so similar idea different niche :)

I would focus on providing more value. Copying SaaS Pages and have blocks and giving tips on each block seems like a great way to do that.

Also have a look into getting back links for your product it will help it get ranked better on Google.

Also how do you plan to monetize?

I got a lot more ideas if you want them. Depends on how much time you want to invest into it.

Thanks for this @volkandkaya, good suggestions.

I hadn't really thought about monetizing other than maybe Shopify affiliate at some stage.

I just took a look at SaaS Pages and it looks great...I do love the blocks idea and showing examples of the advice in practice is very cool, rather than just listing links to sites alone.

I take it you're using SaaS Pages to drive traffic to Versoly (rather than it being monetized itself)?

Yes if you've ideas I'd love to hear them - thanks again 👍

Exactly I use it to drive traffic to Versoly. Also plan on adding affiliate ads for SaaS products I use.

Main feature would be to add login and create favorites so they can share inside of teams. That would stop as many users churning, plus you get their emails and send them weekly/monthly updates.

That is my next goal with SaaS Pages. But will wait until I can launch on Product Hunt again.

Pulling together information from different places into one list is a simple but effective way to provide value to people :)

I've used Shopify in the past and had to base ideas on templates/themes, so it would have been nice to find inspiration from real stores. I like the clean style you use which definitely reminds me of that Shopify aesthetic. Great name too!

    A couple suggestions:

    • the follow us section looks like a footer and I almost stopped scrolling when I saw it. Maybe turn it into a card that doesn't take the full width of the page.
    • it seems the "Submit" button is quite important. As people in most countries read from left to right, consider putting this CTA on the left so people see that first (and then follow us on the right).
    • the actual footer looks huge, almost like the rest of the site and there are SO many links. Also consider changing the footer colour to something that stands out so you know you're at the bottom.
    • the About page could do with more detail, otherwise just put whatever you need to into the footer.
    • does Contact really need a separate page nowadays? Just throw a mailto: email link into the footer and get rid of that page.
    • your submit box seems a little...boring? Why resource name and not just Store name? And Collection instead of just Category? Make that confirmation text a little more exciting too!

    Hope that helps :)

Hey @sarwech, thanks so much for taking the time to give this feedback.

I focused most of my time getting content on the site and probably neglected the site pages and usability, so you are absolutely spot on with your points.

I'm going to make some changes based on this, so thanks again!

I think focusing on the content first is definitely a good strategy because that's where most of the value is. It's just small tweaks now to make it a more enjoyable experience :)

        Good luck!
