This is based on my personal experience... reflection time in other words 🥰
I've managed to write down 10 of my core strategies:
1. Niche Focus
- Zero in on a specific market.
- Solve a problem that you're passionate about.
2. Lean Approach
- Start small.
- MVPs over perfection.
- Iterate based on feedback.
3. Selective Automation
- You don't need to automate everything immediately.
- Use where appropriate, cron jobs are your friends.
4. Network Virtually
- Build connections on social media, forums etc., they are gold mines.
5. Self-Care
- Your health is your startup's backbone.
- Regular breaks, exercise, and a work-life balance are key.
6. Continuous Learning
Keep updating your skills and knowledge.
The startup world is always evolving.
7. Financial Prudence
- Manage funds wisely.
- Understand cash flow and budgeting for smarter decisions.
- Don't buy too many domain names!
8. Customer Engagement
- Engage and listen to your audience.
- Their feedback is invaluable.
9. Resilience & Adaptability
- Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow and innovate.
- Pivot when you feel it's right and the time has come.
10. Community Building
- Foster a sense of community around your brand.
- Loyal customers are your best advocates.
Truly hope this will help or at least inspire someone.

What strategies are you following?
This really speaks to me, given that I launched GPX a month ago. I agree with everything, and I'll add a few things:
Have grace with yourself. Forget about overnight success. It is not a failure to have less than 100 users after a month or so. What you need to see is growth. Did you pick up a new user this week? Yes. Good. It's the mindset of a marathon runner rather than a sprinter.
If you are coding, working a full time job and have other commitments, try to build your marketing strategy around your normal internet habits. In my case a daily spend on one platform that shows your ads to relevant users. Set it and forget it for at least a few weeks. Find forums like this one and get comfortable contributing. You will figure out the next steps as you go.
Change your media consumption to feed your ambitions. Are you following relevant channels? Are you subscribed to relevant sub-reddits? Etc. You have limited time, so getting critical information passively is a win-win
On the subject of pivoting. Don't be afraid to pivot. When I build GPX, I spent all my time focusing on combining AI with a traditional running app platform. However, once I started letting users create custom workouts with AI, I asked for a workout and GPT gave me a regular strength-training workout. I went back and adjusted the prompt but as I was doing that I had that lightbulb moment. Suddenly the horizon of what AI x Fitness could mean really opened up and suddenly, GOPilotX wasn't just a running app. It was an Everything Fitness Training app.
Don't release to production on a Friday (just in case you include a bug that causes your app to crash when you try to view your dashboard and then you have to scramble to push out a hotfix and hope you can get it out before end of business at Google...of course that is not something that ever happened to me....)
That's great. I would love some example along the way.
This is great! It's no small feat to go out on your own and embark on a solo founder journey.
It takes strength and creative problem solving, two skills that you have demonstrated nicely in this article.
It's clear that you've made the most of your reflection time and have come out on the other side a wiser and more experienced entrepreneur.
Kudos to you for sharing your story- this will be incredibly valuable for anyone considering taking on the same journey.
