Hey IH community!
I want to share a little about my story and why i'm building Websense.
On an earlier project, i was forced to use google analytics. It was very frustrating. I set it up, and it was a mess. I could not see anything real like:
So i thought to myself, this can't be true. There must be something i'm missing.
I went on different facebook groups to ask questions about GA, and all i saw was people with problems. People were angry with their new version, and did not know how to set it up.
Nothing was easy. That's when i realized this problem has not been solved. I started researching it, and one thing that every analytics tool had in common, was that to see what users click on, you would have to setup custom events. They were lacking in innovation. None of the tools show your websites loading time, or how far down your users scroll.
Lucky for me, my background is in software engineering, so i started thinking about solving this problem. I talked to website owners, and most of them were not happy with their analytics. That's when i knew i had to make this tool.
My dream was a clean dashboard with everything you need to analyze your traffic and optimize your funnel, with 0 setup - so i started building.
I'm now at a point where i can say our tool really provides value to website owners, and the rate at which people are adopting Websense is incredible. Almost everyone i've showed the product to loves it. The tool is free, and allows anyone to set it up in under 5 minutes. Just insert our code snippet, and that's it. No more setup, no custom events.
but i need your support. I don't have a huge following or a big network, and my reach is limited. I would love to show the community what i've built, as i'm pretty sure it will provide value to you guys.
If you want to see the product for yourself, here's the URL:

Google Analytics is actually pretty powerful if you just learn how to use it. I think the frustrations comes in when people refuse to learn GA. GA is free and tracks stuffs pretty accurately, the only downside is effort and time to learn how to use it. That being said, the frustrations alone should already help you get some new users. Good luck!
Hey Gomeyy. Thanks for the reply.
While, i would agree with you, that its a powerful tool, i also think it requires way too much effort. Imagine setting up GA custom events as a non-programmer - most cant, and that's why they pay for experts to set it up. Its both time & money consuming.
I dont think they actually solved the problem of bringing clear analytics to website owners.
If you look at Websense, it gives you everything without any setup, and i would say that it objectively looks better as well.
Oh and Websense is also free, and we don't use or sell your data for anything.
Hey Larry, thanks for cracking the code on analytics for us business owners. Now I can finally stop pretending I understand all those confusing graphs and charts.
No problem. If you need any help starting with Websense, please let me know. Im here. We worked hard to help business owners with their analytics.
Honestly great to see an analytics tool that is easy to use, covers all data and is free. Nice work!
Thanks Katrine. Im glad you like it!
Larry, I'm your target customer. I loathe Google and refuse to let them harvest my customer's data. And while tools like HotJar offer unparalleled stats on app usage, it always felt very obtrusive. Pitch me on WebSense.
Right now, I'm using https://www.goatcounter.com/. The setup is just like WebSense - just a drop-in <script> tag. It doesn't have as much data as I'd like, but it respects my user's privacy.
Why should I switch?
Hey!
Here's some reasons for switching to Websense:
1: The dashboard objectively better than goatcounter.
2: You get the scroll depth of your users. How far down your funnel do they go?
3: You get the loading time for your visitors
4: You get what users click on and each buttons CTR
5: You will understand where your organic traffic is coming from
6: Its free also
7: We NEVER sell your data - its yours
8: You support a fellow indie
9: There's ZERO setup. Just insert the code snippet, and you get everything.
Hope you will give it a chance. I built it for us.
