For the past 6 years, I’ve been slowly building a mobile app called Dirt Slingin Tech — a tool for grassroots dirt track racers to track setups, manage race data, and compete with the big-budget teams.
It all started because I didn’t even know what the parts on my own car did. I was a new racer trying to learn, and while people offered help, I couldn’t keep up with what we changed or why. So I built a simple app to track it all.
Last week, I posted a quick TikTok video demoing one of the features — and it exploded. Over 200+ new users signed up in just a few days. The comments were full of racers saying, “I need this” or “I’ve been looking for something like this.”
Here’s a screenshot of the TikTok analytics:

This was a huge breakthrough for me. I almost didn’t post the video because I thought it wasn’t polished enough. But it turns out: authentic > perfect.
If you’re building something and thinking about promoting it — do it. Even a scrappy, 15-second TikTok can change your momentum.
Let me know if you want me to break down what I included in the video or how I’ve been handling the influx of new users. Happy to share!
