My website is live

My site is live, but I have no idea how to promote it. After getting sick last year, I saw tons of TCM wellness products on Amazon – bought by people who don't even know their body type. So I built a quiz based on real Chinese hospital methods. It tells you your constitution and what to eat (or not eat). Now I just need to figure out how to get the word out.

    How did you deploy it?

  2. 1

I think I’m running into the same problem.

I’m building in public too, and I’ve noticed that new accounts can easily look like promotion, even when you’re genuinely trying to help. I’m starting to believe that the best strategy is to earn trust first, share the journey, and only then talk about the product itself.

    1. 1

Yeah, new accounts get their posts deleted right away. It's so hard to get any traffic on public platforms these days, because all the attention just goes to ads or entertainment. But your suggestion is great. I'm gonna take it slow.first, keep posting about different sub-health issues, share some hospital photos, and then bring up the product later.

  3. 1

If I were in your shoes, I would start by targeting existing high-traffic wellness blogs, alternative medicine forums, and subreddits dedicated to holistic health.

    1. 1

Haha, yeah , I got banned from Reddit for doing that, and I wasn't even promoting any product. I just can't figure out Reddit's rules at all. But I'll keep trying.

  4. 1

    Getting the first users is hard, but having a clear "why" behind the product is a huge advantage. A lot of founders build features. You built a solution to a problem you personally ran into. That's usually a much stronger foundation. :}

    1. 2

Thanks, I'll take that as encouragement and just keep going.

I'm honestly so touched. What I noticed was that a lot of those marketing accounts – you know, selling TCM wellness products on Amazon or TikTok , they never actually tell you what your body type is. So I built this website.

Yes, the full report costs money, but the quiz itself is based on the real diagnostic system used in Chinese TCM hospitals.

I never expected so many people to share their thoughts with me. Thank you all, truly.

Your headline does the hardest thing right — "Why Are You Always Tired, Bloated, Anxious, or Struggling to Sleep?" names the exact person before the product appears. That's rarer than it sounds.

One thing that softens it: the subhead immediately below reads "Discover the body pattern behind recurring symptoms." That's the TCM practitioner's explanation of the mechanism. A cold visitor hears "body pattern / symptoms" and files it mentally as medical research — not something they're getting today.

The specific deliverable is already in your pricing: Personal Food Map, 25+ foods, 28-day TCM recipe plan. It just doesn't reach the subhead, where it could close the intent gap before anyone scrolls.

    Free swap:

Before: "Discover the body pattern behind recurring symptoms"

After: "In 5 minutes, get a Personal Food Map built for your body type — 25+ foods, 28-day plan."

Same product. The second version tells a cold visitor what they leave with before they ever see pricing.

Does this match what you've been noticing — visitors who engage with the headline but don't make it to the pricing section? Worth knowing before I put together the other gaps. → https://outboundautonomy.com/fix-sprint?ref=fixsprint-myeasterntype

Yeah, you're totally right. The most valuable part is actually the personalized meal plan you get after the 5‑minute quiz, but it seems like people don't often get to that step.

Thank you so much for your feedback . I'll go work on improving my headlines and the page.

      1. 1

That tracks — "people don't often get to that step" is exactly the gap the subhead creates. When the mechanism comes first, the visitor who actually needs the quiz can't tell they need it yet.

Glad it landed. If you want fixes #2 and #3 done the same way — specific copy, paste-ready, 48h — Fix Sprint covers them: https://outboundautonomy.com/fix-sprint?ref=fixsprint-myeasterntype

        $49 flat.

Interesting concept. I think the key will be distribution through existing wellness/TCM communities rather than broad promotion.

Who are you targeting first , TCM-aware users or general wellness people?

    1. 1

Honestly, I'm targeting regular people who care about their health. Because that's the difference between Western medicine and TCM , TCM focuses on your body type and how to nurture it, and it has a really complete system for doing that.

  8. 1

The hospital you partnered with is distribution, not just credibility. They see patients every week who would take this quiz in the waiting room. Get them to hand out a card with a QR code at checkout and you have your first real users plus the doctors' endorsement baked in. On the Amazon angle, that is your sharpest wedge. People are already spending money there confused about their constitution. Find the TCM listings with the most reviews, read the questions buyers keep asking, and answer them honestly with the quiz as the "figure out your type first" step. Pick one of those two channels and go deep before you spread thin. How many patients does your hospital partner see in a typical week?

    1. 1

Yeah, you're right about that, but here's the thing ,the TCM hospital I work with is in China. They also do some research projects with a university. Every day, they see over a hundred patients. You know how crazy big Chinese hospitals are.

So when I wanted to build this website, I talked to the doctors there and asked them to help me design the quiz and figure out what the health reports should look like.

But my website is for people outside of China, not for the Chinese market. So promoting it inside a Chinese TCM hospital really wouldn't help much.

  9. 1

the people buying TCM products on Amazon without knowing their constitution is a specific pain point worth targeting directly. there are subreddits like r/ChineseMedicine, r/TraditionalMedicine, and r/Ayurveda where people ask exactly these questions and get generic answers. being genuinely helpful there without pitching anything, just sharing what different constitutions mean and what affects them, builds credibility faster than any launch post

will give it a try. the thing to test with the quiz output is whether a complete beginner to TCM understands what to do next after getting their result. the constitution type is interesting but the dietary and lifestyle guidance is where people either feel like they got something useful or feel like they need to do more research. that gap between result and action is usually where quiz tools lose people

    2. 1

You're right , I've tried that too. I once wrote a really detailed post on how foreigners can see a real, licensed TCM doctor at a正规 public hospital in China, without getting tricked by marketing ads. And it got deleted.

I also tried answering people's questions without promoting my site at all — just saying something like, "You should probably figure out your body type first, then decide what to take." That got deleted too.

Maybe my karma is just too low. I'll give it another shot.

this is actually pretty cool ngl

the fact you used real TCM doctors for the structure makes it way more legit than most quiz sites i’ve seen

    2. 1

Yeah, I actually had doctors from a TCM hospital help design the questions, and the reports we give are all on the safest side. Eastern wellness definitely makes sense ,it's just that now I'm really stuck on how to promote the website.

  11. 1

You might be closer than you think. If your quiz can genuinely help people understand their constitution and make better health and nutrition decisions, then every month spent waiting to figure out promotion is another month that people who need it never discover it.

The challenge now isn't building more features, it's getting enough real users through the quiz to find out who gets the most value from it, what outcomes they care about, and what messaging makes them take action. Without that feedback loop, there's a risk of spending months improving the product based on assumptions instead of real user behavior.

curious, what you've tried so far to get your first consistent stream of visitors? most times, the biggest growth breakthroughs come from understanding where the first 100 users are already hanging out rather than trying to market everywhere at once.

    1. 1

I haven't started promoting yet. I only know that this is useful, but before finishing the website, I never really thought about how I should promote it. This is a big problem. Do you have any specific suggestions? Thank you very much

      1. 1

If I were in your position, I wouldn't rush promoting the website. I'd start by finding people who are already asking questions that your quiz answers and how to position my message to them. For example, people searching for things like:

        • "Why do I always feel tired after eating?"

        • "What foods should I avoid?"

        • "Why does the same diet work for others but not me?"

        • "How do I know my body type?"

Those conversations are happening every day on Reddit, Facebook groups, Quora, health forums, and even in comment sections on platforms like instagram. The reason I'd start there is that you don't need thousands of visitors right now. You need proof that strangers see the quiz and think, "This is exactly what I need." this can be easily achieved if you position the message right.

it is one thing to get the messaging right that it will make people want to use your website, it is another thing to ensure the ease of becoming a user while on your website. so, the positioning shouldn't only be on the various platforms you market on, positioning should also be integrated into your website itself. Once you get that validation, promotion becomes much easier because you'll start hearing the exact language people use to describe their problems.

At this stage, I think the biggest risk isn't a lack of traffic, it's spending months trying random marketing tactics before you've learned which audience resonates most strongly with the idea. happy to help with the promotion

  12. 1

One thing I'd be careful with:

The challenge may not be promotion yet.

It may be identifying who is most likely to trust and act on the result once they get it.

Those sound similar early on, but they tend to create very different signals about what is and isn't working.

I wouldn't make that call casually this early.

My target customers are people who are interested in traditional Chinese wellness but feel quite lost about it. I've partnered with a legitimate traditional Chinese medicine hospital — they helped me design the quiz questions and provide recommendations based on the constitution test results. I told them that what I see on TikTok and Amazon is everyone just saying 'buy, buy, buy,' but no one is regulating TCM constitutions, no one is telling people what your constitution type is or whether a product actually suits your constitution. So the problem now is: we've built the product, but we haven't figured out how to promote it...

      1. 1

        Possibly.

The reason I'd still be careful is that what you're describing can create some very convincing signals if the underlying decision hasn't been resolved first.

That's the part I'd be careful with.

I wouldn't try to unpack that properly in a thread.

          1. 1

            Appreciate that.

The reason I'm hesitant to take the quiz is that I don't think the interesting part is the report itself.

I think there's a decision underneath the promotion question that I'd want confidence in before using product feedback as a signal.

If you're curious about that part, drop your email and I'll send over the tighter version.

When someone lands on your site does the first screen explain what the quiz does, or do they have to figure it out themselves? That gap is usually where new visitors drop off.

    1. 2

Yes, mine directly explains what to do. The information should be fairly accurate.

      1. 1

That's great...Clear first screens make a huge difference for conversions.
