MyTechLead.com - looking for techies and non-technical founders (who need techies...)!

Hey Indie Hackers!

I'm an experienced hacker myself, been doing this for 20 years or so.

Many startups, many projects - both my own and for clients.

I love helping companies get their tech right - whether that's their technical architecture, the design of their site or the way they're running their Facebook ads. But I'm only 1 person, and my time doesn't scale.

So I have launched https://MyTechLead.com

I hope to be able to connect experienced seen-it-all techies like myself with growing companies that need a tech lead or a technical co-founder (without the expensive salary or messy equity splits).

At the moment I'm the only tech lead on the site (although I did add a few fakes for demonstration purposes...). I do currently have some free slots.

So ... here's the call to action:

Please do get in touch if you're:

  • In need of technical help for your growing business
  • You're a tech lead yourself who needs more clients

Feel free to contact me at the email address in my bio, or via the contact form at https://mytechlead.com/

Cheers,

Leon

p.s I forgot to say, any feedback on the site from my fellow Indie Hackers much appreciated!

Ha! I like that guy's channel actually, he's one of the better tech youtubers. Great communicator, obviously.

    Hey Leon,

great idea there, really love the concept of connecting founders with tech leads.

The only thing that is a bit confusing is the term itself tech leads - first time I've read the content I thought it's more for finding developer leads. If I got it right by the term technical leads you mean people with a wider experience in building digital products (like product managers, product people, developers), did I got it right?

Hi Filip, thanks for the comment! Yeah, a tech lead would normally be a developer (who then guides developers under him). But in this case I do mean technical people who have years of experience in building companies and can put that expertise to use. For me, that means not just development but also design, branding, marketing, product development. All the things that I have helped companies with over the years. When I have looked for contract work I've always been reluctant to pigeonhole myself as just a developer, and my real passion is getting stuck in with early stage companies and helping them to solve all their problems! But there's no real term for that. A virtual CTO is a thing, but I wanted to convey the fact that we can actually get down and do the work too if needed (which a CTO wouldn't normally be expected to do).

Interesting concept. How do you pre-screen your VTLs?

    1. 2

Hi Siddhant, thanks for the question. To pre screen the VTLs I first ask for their portfolio and CV - along with references. If all OK, we'll chat on Skype and talk about past successful projects and projects that haven't quite worked out. I'm looking for experienced war-horses here, so there will be lots to discuss! We'll talk about what sort of direct packages they can offer (along with the mentoring) and I'll sling in a few questions to make sure they have the skills to offer those to clients. If all seems good, I'll contact their references for a final confirmation.
