The idea behind this post is to get everyone to share something they made an habit in their lives this year and how it improved their lives.
N.B: It's a spin-off of this my last post
Kindly make sure to put an habit everyone can learn from and use to their own advantage. That's it!
I'd go first:
Progression.
This year, I picked progression over perfection. It has helped me grow in all aspect. For instance, I've tweeted on Twitter for 200 days consistently in a row, according to Tweet Hunter's Twitter Streak.
What's yours?
Lifting. I started working out last August and I always feel great about myself. If I can add one more, showering everyday, gives you that refreshment feeling you're looking for to kickstart your day.
There just something amazing about looking at your gains in the mirror after a good workout session. 😃
I am literally building a tool collecting indiehacking-related habits (https://themakerswalk.website/) so I am thinking about this a lot :D
My favorite...is probably either coding daily (>= one commit on GitHub, you get the nice colored tile for it) or getting rejected once a week (haven't really found the perfect mechanism yet, but I think it's incredibly powerful)
This makes so much sense. Love to see it!
Journaling at the end of every day. During the work week, its mostly about things I accomplished or things I thought about and want to review later. During the weekend, its more small things that I enjoyed and want to hold onto a little longer.
Journaling is amazing. I tried it this year but I wasn't consistent. The little I did actually helped me!
I recently implemented being very intentional with my time and tasks, which has had a very positive impact. It might sound basic, but having intention with every task you do often leads to great attention, motivation and purpose. Not just finding yourself mindlessly scrolling IG or something else.
Now I try to specify 2-3 main tasks I want to get done by the end of the day and their intention. I describe how I'm going to get those tasks done. The more detailed the better. For example; Today I want to spend 1 hour catching all the loose ends in my inbox, Notion workspaces and socials to not miss anything and have a clean slate for tomorrow.
I've found this approach to be very helpful compared to a regular todo-list (which you can keep separate).
Being intentional about our daily time and tasks can actually be a time-saver most times. I love this!
Very true!
This year I read "Bullet Journal Method". So I start to note my things following the book and It does help me in many ways.
This is the first time I can really organize my day-to-day job. It's also help me to load my thought to the note, so I can reduce stress along the way.
Anyway, I still a long way to go for note. I still can't have a good writing which mean I can't load all my thought to the note yet. So next year will be more practicing on this issues.
Thank you for using this opportunity to tell me about The Bullet Journal Method. I just got my copy. I believe it would help me in 2023.
Drinking more water. Tip: purified and chilled water is much more pleasant!
Specifically tie that to drinking
non water drinks. Coffee plus water chaser,
for example.
Many more habits but thats the one I picked for bang/buck.
Drink more water. Have more life.
Very simple!
I just found out about GPT and it's been helping me a lot in my work and learning. I also just discovered an extension for search engines. It's very convenient, everyone should try installing it and see how it goes. You need to log in to the main OpenAI page and use it on search engines.

It's a subspecies of a habit, I have got into the habit of always asking myself what I have done well to date and if there has been any failure to ask myself how I can improve and forget the failure.
So that I can concentrate on the present with an eye on the future.
Interesting. It is essential to review our actions and compare them to our goals. Helps us hit the goals better!
Meet successful people so you get inspired
Yes. It's good to meet successful people. They inspire you to want to be successful too.
I do a minimum of 6000 steps every day. Either by running or by walking. It has improved my sleep quality and while I do it, I have time to listen to audiobooks and podcasts.
This is great. Listening to podcasts while working has improved my productivity this year.
Journaling my inner dialog to reveal how much I was holding myself back by overthinking, aiming for perfection and being self critical
I used my own app to do this and making a habit out of it has led to lasting positive change
The app is called 6000 thoughts and available on iOS https://apple.co/3TNZCEa and Android https://bit.ly/6000thoughts
This is awesome. I just checked out 6000 Thoughts. It's such a amazing app to help track inner thoughts. Love it!
time boxing tasks.
Great. The agile system!
I started Intermittent Fasting this year, fasting almost 16-17 hours a day. It has been the most blissful thing for my productivity, I feel so active and can be very creative for the most part of the day.
Wow! Amazing.
I'm trying to build a habit of launching fast. till now, launched 1 product, and one making.
the goal is to eliminate the fear of launching
Apart from the fear of launching. Do try eliminate perfectionism and anxiety. And ship your product!
Yess
Interestingly, I took indie hacking as a habit that significantly improved my well being.
My corporate day job is soul sucking, JIRA, agenda-less meetings, solution architecture blueprints...
But anytime I open my emacs with ruby on rails codebase my life is injected with pure joy, love and meaning. Even if my project never earned a dime, I already received more energy by creating it.
Nothing is as beautiful as spending time building something significant, passionately.
In case you didn't see it:
