I've been mulling over a game idea I had and tried to build the most minimal version of it myself on BB3 just to see if it works when I realised I just don't have the technical skill needed to properly build an MVP. I have had a bit of experience in writing code but to be completely honest I suck lol my strengths are in sales and marketing (my current occupation).
I was having a beer with the boys a few days ago and mentioned my idea to a good friend of mine from high school who I haven't seen in years. And he said I should build a prototype and send it to him. Turns out. He owns a game publishing company (specialised for casual mobile games). He said he'll give me some honest feedback on it and potentially pick it up if it fits their business. But even if it doesn't he's more than happy to send it around his connections and see if anyone else would like to pick it up. We talked a bit more and he showed me some behind the scenes stuff they've got going on and even showed me their current stats. They've cleared more than 240 MILLION downloads across 3 apps!. So they definitely know what they're doing. In my opinion at least. My marketer's brain went bonkers! lol.
Here's where you come in. I need a coding wizard able to build an MVP via Unity. I don't have a budget set for the MVP build but if it turns out they can carry the game I am more than happy to negotiate pay for full development. Now I don't like the idea of people working for free. So in exchange for building the MVP for me, I'd love to help you with marketing advice/strategy for anything you have going on. If it sounds like something you're interested in leave your email in the comments and I'll get in touch with you.
Hey I would be interested in hearing more about the game concept and have a solid background with Unity.
Feel free to checkout my Ludum Dare 45 Game Jam Entry https://caidanwilliams.com/projects/unlock-hero/
I created all the art and some of the code, it was written in Javascript using Pixi.js but the core concepts of game dev transfer very easily to Unity.
You can contact me using the contact page on my personal site, or you can email me at caidanstevenwilliams(at)gmail(dot)com
Is there a reason it needs to be done in Unity?
For the prototype not particularly. But the end product ideally would be done in Unity only because thats what Im more familiar with. Thats all. I dont really know or am familiar with any other engine.
I'd be interested in talking further depending on the scope of the project, though I mainly work inside the Godot engine (https://godotengine.org/) in a 2D space.
My wife recently self-published a children's book and we're having a hard time marketing it, so extra help would be great!
