We are building a green screen call app called weCall. (Think FaceTime meets Green Screen)
I don't know how to grow user base, any advice? https://wecallapp.page.link/in
A couple of things that you may find handy:
SEO, reaching out to friends, going to events and putting out posters is expensive and slow (even SEO costs effort and a lot of time). In other words, none of those things are immediately scalable.
Rather, I would focus on the following process:
This process might cut your time and efforts by up to 10x.
Hope this helps.
I wrote about some pointers in Zero To Founder from SaaS perspective.
But quick pointers that are working for many people if you have not considered -
Reddit and IH is what I do to! Helps a lot and I also get to know more feedback from it
Highly ++
Thankyou!!
Hi, I can offer you to boost your audience on the networks (instagram/twitter) thanks to my agency, so that you can make more publicity for your application. If you are interested, please contact me on telegram. @Limitless_Netw0rks
The things that worked best for me is sharing my experiences and feature updates about ruttl with the community at IH, twitter and LinkedIn. Though on LinkedIn I get more traction from my own page rather than the product page, I guess it's cause of the personal touch.
Also keep your approach SEO driven, what I try to do is frequently write and publish blogs on my website about topics and themes related to design and development by targeting relevant keywords.
I've launched ruttl on both Appsumo and Product Hunt, which proved to be a successful approach as we managed to be the product of the day and also recently won the Golden Kitty Award.
All the best on your journey!
To grow your user base for WeCall:
Identify your target audience and where they spend their time online
Leverage social media and run paid ads to reach a wider audience
Optimize your app store listing and offer incentives for referrals.
That's basically what we are trying but the most difficult for that is to identify who will be our users, we have some hypothesis but cannot decide actually since we don't know which works the best.
You should really check out how tl;dv launched on PH, the founder is an IH himself and active on here, definitely some learning lessons to take home on this case study. Entertain first, sell later.

Thank you so much!
SEO, promote on communities that has your target users, or look for a small number of paying customers then let the word of mouth magic happen. It's what I did for founders cafe and grew like $5K MRR https://founderscafe.io/post/how-to-make-a-successful-discord-5k-mrr
Thank you!
This looks like an app that needs to go viral to gain traction. Therefore, you should behave product-based growth loops that are naturally integrated so that one user brings in 4 users.
You should getting their friends easy as sharing on Whatsapp or on Instagram.
Our product does not have any function like friends, instead of that we have similar function like whatsapp, it means friends list is displayed on the call section encouraging users to install app to start a green screen call!
I would not do any SEO. It is on the decline. Chatgpt plus is my trusted platform.
Is there a reason your not using the indie community, here as WOM ?
What do you mean about " i didn't see anything green"? Could be some bug to be fixed!
YouTube sounds clever!
Literally. There was no green on the apple app store page. I was expecting to see a green screen somewhere, given tag is "face time meets green screen"
Hey Yoshua :)
It's a really cool idea you've got there!
In terms of growing your user base, I suggest developing a solid value proposition and creating a test landing page to run some cold traffic to.
This way, you can test your message's effectiveness and see if you're getting decent conversions..😄
Once you've validated your idea, consider building a Minimum Valuable Community before the launch.
By building a Minimum Valuable Community before the actual launch, you can secure buyers ahead of time and potentially reduce your time and effort by up to 10 times 🙃
You may consider expanding your reach by utilising various tactics such as leveraging your personal network, creating dedicated social media accounts for your app, collaborating with influencers in your target market, attending relevant industry events, and launching your product on platforms like Product Hunt and BetaList.
Building a user base takes time and effort, so don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results.
Keep iterating based on user feedback, and you'll get there. I wish you the best of luck with everything! 🚀
You mean creating different landing page to test the idea out?
Yes, I mean precisely that.
I agree, emphasis on user feedback. Even if you only had 1 or 2 of them, their feedback will be the foundation of your startup's growth
Heyy @Yoshua
First off, I just want to say congrats on creating weCall a green screen video calling app is such a cool idea :)
When it comes to growing your user base, there are a few things you could try. Start by reaching out to your own network • ask your friends and family to give weCall a try and share it with anyone they think might be interested. You could also create social media accounts for the app and share updates about new features and positive feedback from users. And hey, why not partner up with some influencers in your target market or attend industry events to get your name out there?
Just remember, building a user base takes time and effort, so don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Keep iterating based on user feedback and you'll get there. Good luck with everything 🚀
Thank you for your warm message we are now trying to make friends use our app but few of them are actually creators so it can be a bit difficult!
But yeah, will keep trying!
Hope this helps!
What a list! Thanks
