Alright Indie makers, lol, I am trying to build a daily newsletter for tech news.
I just need a straight out, honest answer. Is it worth doing a daily newsletter? If not why?
Recently I just unsubscribed to all the daily newsletters that I signed up to in the past as I just don't have enough time to read through those and instead it just fills my inbox. I have mostly kept the monthly or weekly ones.
That's what I'm afraid of. lol
I'm subscribed to a few daily newsletters and sometimes I would open them.
I like the Indie Hackers weekly newsletter. I open those.
Are you already writing everyday?
If you're already itching to write and have done so, then yeah, go ahead, there is an endless market for quality content at whatever frequency. (One of my friends had a super successful business publishing at least 2 emails newsletter PER DAY, and up to five on certain days, to their subscribers).
If you're not already producing and writing that much, then that kind of schedule is going to drain the life out of you.
I believe there are two sorts of content creators : the people who can crank articles/podcasts/videos day in and day out on a regular schedule, and the "batchers". I'm a batch person: my record is shooting 93 video podcasts in a single day. I can also write several book chapters (and up to one book) in a single setting. But writing a daily newsletter would kill me after three days. Some of my friends are the exact opposite and thrive with a daily writing challenge. You do you :-)

This will be a curated tech news newsletter. There's so much tech news going on everyday. I would probably burn out in three months.
At the same time, I just wonder why people choose a weekly over daily.
If it was a product-based company, I would do it weekly.
If some are against daily, then why Morning Brew and The Hustle are popular?
Whatever schedule you can think about, you will find people who are against it. And most people tend to think that everybody else in the universe is just like them. So they'll say:
(which is wrong ; my experience with building multiple 100k+ subscriber lists is you'll have a much more engaged list with daily emails than with any other schedule)
or
All of that is subjective and I have had clients who did any of the above successfully. It's really a matter of "whatever floats your boat" and then you'll find your people who like the same rythm you do.
Which brings me to...
I don't think it's worth starting anything that you know will burn you out over 3 months :-)

does your friend write up to five emails for different newsletters? or all under one newsletter banner? I would love to know what kind of newsletter it is, I just can't imagine what niche needs so many updates. please share :D
Financial market (insights for traders). Same brand :
He said his updates were easy to write. Main (paid) email followed a template ; the second email is a copy/paste of the first one, and in-day alerts are short "tips" rather than full-blown newsletters.

There's plenty going on in tech so daily could definitely work imo. I'd be surprised if there aren't already daily tech newslettes.
The hard part would be distribution and growing the list big enough to make it worthwhile. You'd need some kind of external source of emails such as a Twitter following, paid ads, a community etc.
Weekly is nice. Enough to feel a routine, look forward to it, and have enough depth to be thought provoking.
Unless it's "here are the things that happened yesterday", I don't think a daily newsletter is going to keep people engaged, and they'll likely unsubscribe. The exception here would be something like morningbrew.
Why is Morningbrew the exception? There's The Hustle, The Skimm, The Newslette, and 1440.
I feel like the audience on Indie Hackers prefer Weekly newsletter.
I said "like morningbrew". The hustle is similar, and I'm not familiar with the others.
Best of luck
What is your purpose ? I think this is the most important question.
To provide tech news to busy techies.
I mean do you want to make money with this newsletter or do you want to use this newsletter to sell your own products. Or just for fun?
What's the benefit of doing it daily? And what is your target group that basically demands this?
Very few people want or need a daily newsletter. If you are not explicitly targeting these people (e.g., what I can think of, investors & journalists), then don't do it.
Who are the few people? I just realized that the audience on Indie Hackers prefer Weekly newsletter.
I personally don't like daily newsletter
I started publishing my newsletter every day but switched to weekly about 6 weeks later.
It's very hard to publish every day. I realized I would be much better off publishing once a week and using the time saved to promote my newsletter more effectively.
Also, the more you publish, the more unsubscribes you'll get.
"No more than twice a week and at least once a month..." - Campaign Monitor
Now, think about it this way. Let's say, I wanted to send out newsletters from my Ai-powered based logo maker website , because I know that this can keep loyal customers and get more sales.
But if you're one of my customers, how would you feel if I spam your mailbox with newsletters everyday? What are the odds that you would read them, and not feel annoyed? Because personally, I would be very irritated and might unsubscribe later on.
So the concise answer is - no! Try to keep sending one or two newsletters a week. If possible, do it less! This way, you'll keep your prospects and existing customers intrigue.
Thanks for the input. That makes sense for product-based company.
I am trying to built a media company like Morning Brew and The Hustle.
Are you saying you will unsubscribe to daily news newsletter?
I think it is not best practice to send a daily newsletter. You can do it weekly or monthly.
Do you know why?
I personally unsubscribe to the newsletter which I got daily.
Ok, thank you for input.
