I posted this on Reddit to some small local subreddits, but my posts got shut down or nobody downloaded, so I couldn't get any testers out of it. I wanted testers to be in the same location (and that's how I plan to market at launch, one spot at a time), so they could actually find each other on the app and properly experience it, but I still think the Indie Hackers community can still give me great feedback even though you're scattered around.
Btw, let me know if you want me to temporarily create an Indie Hackers pool on the app just for you guys, haha! Maybe my app could even spin off from friends/dating to finding co-founders and business partners. 🤷🏻♀️🤪
Thank you so much, fellow bootstrappers!

Hey Reddit,
I made an interest-based meet friends & dating app lol XD: venndating.app
It has this idea of "pools", which represent niche interests, kind of similar to "subreddits". You only match with people who are in the same pools you joined. Some pools have special "links" to enhance the experience for that pool e.g. if you're a gamer: Discord, Twitch, Steam, Nintendo ID, PSN, XBOX Gamertag, etc. It's pretty neat.
In order to validate this idea at a smaller scale before I pump too much of my own money into it, I'm starting off with the following:
Pools:
Device
Location
In case you're wondering, yes these are indeed my interests, phone, and location, so I thought it would be perfect to start with a handful of testers from my local anime/gaming conventions and schools! WOO, YEAH!! Since this is a location-based app, it's good to concentrate on a location at a time at first rather than have everyone scattered around all over.
If the app turns out to be sustainable, I can easily add very many pools/interests from anything Dungeons & Dragons to Farmers Only (like how there are so many subreddits!), spin up apps for Android and the Web, and expand from city to city -> coast to coast -> country to country.
But first, I need to run a small beta test, so we can find the remaining bugs and make some improvements based on your feedback before the official launch in only a matter of months.
I could really use your help, and your feedback is greatly appreciated. And keep in mind I'm just one dude working on this, who tries to have a life outside of work just like you do, haha! Because of this, I won't be checking messages on Reddit much because well... stress and anxiety, but I'll be checking the nolt.io feedback boards listed below, especially if I notice there y'all agree on changes I should make!
