Need feedback to improve my homepage?

Hi,

The goal of my product is to help anyone harness full potential of videos for learning and skill-development. It has a browser extension component as well as a web app with a bunch of features that revolve around the foundation of taking timestamped notes on videos.

The product gets perceived just as a chrome extension and I want to break that and focus on it being a platform that helps beyond just note-taking.

Could I get feedback on the homepage messaging and design?

Nice product and you're on the right track with the landing page. But it could use some improvements to get the value and next steps across.

The design needs a lot more spacing as other people said, mainly above the fold. It makes it hard to focus on individual parts.

Have one main CTA above the fold. There are 3 red buttons, input and other things grabbing attention.
I would leave the input as the most prominent thing with the main button to try it out. Also you can have the input prefilled with example video to minimize friction.

Video is great to have but it's too small. I would change it for a clear screenshot that shows the main value. And let user play the video in a bigger format (e.g. in modal)

For messaging, I think it might be better to first focus on one of the target users and nail the benefits for them. Either individuals or teams or for edu. Each need something different.

agreed. I am now focusing on a top 3 use cases only. Language Learning, Performing Arts, and Online Education. My idea is to keep homepage generic but build use case specific landing pages and link them from home page.

A couple of things that I think some other IH have pointed out. Overall, you need to give room for the content to breath: Consider increasing the size of the hero section so it takes up 3/4 of the page or the entire page. This is the section that needs to capture the visitors attention, and it's being distracted by a lot of text from the section below it. There needs to be a short and memorable line which summarizes your products main value proposition, and the call-to-action needs to be large and clear (In this case there's two CTA's which are downloading the chrome extension and pasting a link, so think about reducing it to just the Download or pasting a link).

Giving more vertical space between the sections will be a great start. Tasquito's is right in saying you could work on reducing the amount of text.

will definitely work on the spacing

Reduce the amount of text all over the page and rewrite it. Keep it short, scannable and straight. Focus on benefits instead of features. Why should a user use it? Why it will be beneficial?

honestly i have tried to focus on benefits rather than features but I am sure there are more improvement possible on the messaging around the jobs-to-be-done.

If you have got some sources to invest hire a marketing copywriter. It's not a lot of text. It might not cost much. We made it this way and revisited the copy by expert freelance copywriters. You can post it on our site as well to get proposals by native English copywriters.

sure. I will do that. I am looking to create some use cases specific landing pages also.

    Honestly, it looks pretty good.

There is a bit too much content/information above the fold on a 4k screen.

For the supported platforms, I would use their logos with a tooltip title instead of their names, for a more visual impact.

yes reducing text and putting logos of supported platforms is the first thing we will do. We had such a design earlier but I changed it to text because we were adding new platforms quite frequently and updating the design with logos was time consuming.

I have a number of institutes and global organisations also using ReClipped so I will be adding a section on that too.

+1 to what they said. But one of the most important factor (and probably the easiest one) to fix is the spacing. The first page and other sections are too compressed, making the text, images, or videos looked small. Perhaps, you can extend them a bit, so readers can clearly read what you offer, its features, and how you can benefit them.

    But overall, good job!

      Thanks. makes complete sense.

Don't advertise key stroke combinations in your demo video. That's not something a platform does because a) who cares and b) too many features to have us memorize key strokes in a video.

Same idea for your integrations and syncing features - that's not the sizzle here.

I don't mean to sound harsh - these marketing sites are really, really difficult and are site is in worse shape then yours (we will be fixing soon).

      thanks.
To give you some insights, both those things resonate heavily with my current users. Hence, I decided to make them prominent. But I get your point.

Don't worry about sounding harsh. I know the page can be improved a lot and hence started this thread to get feedback. I really appreciate you taking out the time and putting thoughtful feedback.

Overall, it's a nice page as I could easily understand the product. However, one issue I felt is that it has too much text. A couple of suggested changes:

    1. Instead of the Supported Platforms section which has text, maybe have the logos of those platforms. That will allow you to add 5-6 in a single line. You could also make it scroll automatically.
    2. The hero section looks a bit shorter. Ideally I would like to see 85-90% of the page in hero section, and just the bottom 10-15% having the Supported Platforms section with their logos
    3. There is some inconsistency in text colours and fonts. The font and colours in the hero section look different from those in the section below Supported Platforms (the Description section).
    4. The size of the content in the Description section can be reduced and some whitespace added to reduce the feeling of "too much text"
    5. The CTA "Get Reclipped for Chrome" makes it sound like the product is a Chrome extension. I also got the same impression. Maybe a change of text like "Also available as a Chrome extension" or some mention of your platform to make the user understand this would be useful.

Thanks a lot. These are quite actionable points. I will incorporate them.
