This is a x-post from Jason Calacanis's "Startups" group on facebook. I just thought It'd post here on Indie Hackers as well to see if I could get a little extra feedback:
Hey everybody. I need some help naming my startup. My startup is currently named after my first failed startup endeavor, and I'm looking to change the name to something generic. I know Twitter's parent company in the beginning was, "Obvious Corporation;" I really like that and would like to come up with something similar. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
If this is any help, my startup is focused on building web and mobile apps. At the moment I'm currently working on a Chrome browser extension called "Bitchin' Bookmarks." The project is coming along really well, but I don't want to make the same mistake again of naming my company after a product that may or may not be successful. Anyway, hope to get some feedback from you guys. Thanks!

How about just picking a regular human name? I've seen so many awesome startups lately following this trend:
Alfred https://www.helloalfred.com/
Clara https://claralabs.com/
Aida https://www.aidaeats.com/
Biggest advantage of picking human name? You'll be seen as a trustworthy helper, not a faceless corporation.
What differentiates your particular startup from other web and mobile app builders? What is the value add? I'd say use the name to help convey your unique value.
Hey Chris, I run a bespoke branding service at Braand.co.

I would use a name that's completely transparent to the product you're building now.
I initially started my services company with a name that hints at a technology I was specialized in, but after a few years I changed my focus so it looks a bit odd (and now that you made me think about it, it's probably time to change the name)
I always use this: impossibility.org
This is assuming you want a .com

Hey, we went through this process a few months ago, for our latest project. In the past, I've named a dozen different projects and 2 companies.
To be honest - it's hard, especially if you're about to name a company. For our latest project, it took as 2-3 weeks of brainstorming, searching, getting feedback, throwing unsuccessful names, ...
