If you’re not getting a 50% open rate and at least a 10% reply rate (positive or negative) then you either need to change your target, copy and/or website. Always be testing, but with statistically significant numbers.

Deliverability and your data is half the battle. Warm up your inbox. Validate your emails. Change up at least 20% of your email copy per recipient. Don’t use Mailchimp or something similar. Send directly from your inbox. Use a different domain from your main one. The list goes on and on ☺️

If you are looking for advice on how to do this just email me, happy to help for free (this also goes for anyone who’s reading this!)

Ymmv, but I’ve had better luck in the past with cold calling over cold emailing.

People are desensitized and overstimulated to the point of sensory overload. It’s a problem.

A fellow Indiehacker did a teardown about a cold email I sent him(for sales tool feedback), hope you find it useful. There is also interesting feedback for improvement in the comments.

The email was inspired by another wonderful email breakdown in IH itself: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/a-cold-email-that-worked-e4d512ae90

Also had some success pitching digital services to doctors: https://twitter.com/triggered_leads/status/1298558017269460993

Go to Trends, the newsletter from the Hustle feller. They have a nice article on how to write cold emails.

You can find a lot of technical information on setting up/operating cold emails, my crystalized sharing - emails are effective post-acquisition/lead-gen, if you front load this, i.e. using cold email even at specific target segments, you will need A LOT of firepower to get reasonable response/open rates.

    1. 1

      firepower as in volume?

      1. 1

yes, you'll need to fire off a big number of emails to get a meaningful number of responses, e.g. <5% actual interests

Warm up your domain, and don’t use the domain for sending emails that your primary domain is running on.

warm up your domain?....im new to this.. :D

Most folks can tell you how in low volume. However there is a secret sauce on how to do this in high volume. And you must have a relationship with a ESP owner.
