Need Some Suggestions

Hello,
I am Iqra. I am a Freelancer working as an SEO expert. I really want to build a subscription-based SaaS product. I need suggestions on what programming language should I learn?

Should I learn or outsource it? Because I don't know to code but I have knowledge of the web and I can create good websites using WordPress.

Looking forward to your precious recommendations.
Thanks

It sounds to me like you're interested in actually getting stuck into the programming, so why not give it a try!

There are lots of places to start, but getting some basic foundations in HTML, CSS, JS is a good start for building a web app. The guys at freecodecamp have a great set of courses covering the basics https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn (don't do all of it! But dipping into their core courses might be helpful... then if you're keen you can try and go for a more advanced course, like working in React https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/front-end-libraries/#react). There are so many great resources for learning, it's hard to choose one, but it's worth checking out to see if you get the bug for it.

Of course, the option of getting a technical co-founder is faster in many ways, but if you want to learn to code and then use your knowledge of SEO to build a SaaS product later, then there's no other way than putting in the hours (lots of them!)... it's hard, but it's fun (also depends on the time/funds you have to support this learning process)!

As @cblindsey3 said its not one answer, you have to really decide what fits your own situation.

My opinion is the best way is to have a technical co-founder so they can be there for the long term vision.

I couldn't find a technical co-founder, so I decided to learn web programming. When deciding in the beginning if I should or shouldn't, I found even if I learn and find a co-founder I might be able to help them if not at least I can make an mvp and see where things go.

Outsourcing has its own challenges, I have worked with a few its not as easy as it seems.

But for learning web programming its not that simple, I've been learning for more than two years and I still there's so much to learn, but I can create an mvp. So you need to be willing to put in the hours and for a long period of time.

For resources to use, you can check think link.

But I would suggest learning the basics first HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

If have more questions I'll be willing to help more.

If you are not a developer but you want start your startup soon I suggest to use no-code tool that permit to launch MVP with 0 line of code written.

    You can Google it :)

If you will scale maybe you will found a co-founder tech :)

I suggest to team up with someone who already know how to do these things. You can use starthawk.io or cofounderslab to look around.

Thank you. I will surely check it out.

There are a lot of great options like

    • team up with a technical co-founder
    • use a no-code tool
    • learn to program (JS or Python are good options)

Each has pros and cons and depends on your situation. A lot of people have learned to code to build a product, a lot have been successful using no-code, others team up and split development and business. No-code is probably the fastest to get started, so without knowing more about your situation, I'd recommend using a no-code tool to prototype some of the ideas you have.

Thanks for the brief reply. Can you tell what are the no code options can you provide some links to learn more about that

There are a lot of options and I think there's even a no-code group on Indie Hackers. The one I'm most aware of is Retool which seems like a great tool
