Hey there, fellow indiehackers!
https://zeroms.blog/
What do you think of this landing page? Is it clear what the service is about? Is it clear how it's different? Is it convincing/persuasive enough? If you don't like something, what is it?
Thank you!
Nice colours, I like these illuctrations, but it seems they are more about eco-products rather than the software.
You said about "an excellent writing experience," but imho the headings are far from excellence.
The text on the second screen looks unimportant, it would be better to have some billet points or other type of structuring.
The heading on the last screen is bad, it speaks nothing to customer.
Hi, thanks for sharing your feedback!
I am trying to take all the feedback as it is and not to question or correct it, but I have a hard time seeing how it's more about eco-products?.. Could you elaborate a little bit what caused these feelings when you first saw it? Was it the tree, and then the planet below?
Agree to your other points. As others have suggested already - I will try to swap the features with the text on the second screen.
Regarding the heading on the last screen, it was a hint to developers (who are the main intended audience) by using the common
!=(doesn't equal) syntax. Might reconsider using it if it's confusing. Thank you! It’s not clear to me when I read it whether or not I, as a dev, am your target audience. (Apparently I am.)
Maybe going from “Focus on writing and building your audience“ to something like “Focus on writing your blog, not building It.”
I’d also use a heavier, smaller point size font there. But YMMV.
Hey Daniel, thanks for the feedback!
You are right that the audience is developers, although I tried to avoid mentioning it to not to repel other technically inclined people, who could also be potential customers.
I hoped that the technical copy will make it clear. It's interesting to hear that it has confused you. Thank you for sharing.
Also, you are right about the idea of the main header! You understood it correctly, which is what I hoped for. I decided not to use negation in the copy (such as "... not building it"), because I read somewhere that it is bad and pushes a user back when there are any words such us "no, not, don't", etc.
I am heavily thinking about this right now. It's very tempting to use the title you've suggested. Thank you.
Tagline suggestion: "Nature-friendly blogging platform for ambitious publishers"
I think the website looks great
Here's what I would change tho:
❎ Move the values towards the end of the page
❎ Move the features towards the TOP of the page
❎ I would list amongst You vs Them the fact that you need "tech skills" to set-up most blogging platforms that are headless/static-gen/etc
I also agree that there is a lack of imagery in the page and by that I mean, what does the interface look like? How much faster are you? Show me the pagespeed report! How customizable is my site? Can I collect emails/comments?
There's a lot going that I think you're missing out on, in terms of information, and it would be crucial to see on the page before signing up
Hi, thank you for the feedback!
I think the first two points make perfect sense. Will play a bit with moving sections around right now.
The third one - not sure. The thing is, I am currently focusing on a sub-niche of developers and other technically "strong" people. Although I've decided not to state it explicitly - all the technical details are laid out in the text (mentions of CDN, specific formats, etc.). The most common "problem" developers actually have - is that instead of writing a blog, they spend time exercising their tech skills, setting up the blogging software, or even writing their own. My project is aimed either at those who understand that it's not productive and want to "outsource" all the tech work and focus on writing. Or at those who are already past this phase, and see that it's not as convenient as they expected it to be (I was there myself) and are ready to just pay for a good solution and start blogging. Either way, I doubt this specific group of customers will see the "no need for tech skills" attracting. Does this make sense?
Finally, I absolutely agree with the need for more "imagery", as you and others have pointed out - but at this point the product doesn't exist yet. All the strong differenciators described on this landing page are it's main goals, but it's not implemented yet. How do you think I should work around that?
And again, thank you so much for your feedback!
My impression is that it's clear, uncluttered, professional and I got what it's about relatively quickly. "Fast computers, fast networks, slow websites" - this resonated with me. I remember reading a study on how loading times of software have actually become worse since the 90s at the same time as computing hardware has improved massively.
Could you include a graph with concrete numbers comparing the load time and/or page size of an average blog on ZeroMS vs. some popular blogging platforms? I think being able to see concrete numbers on just how lightweight ZeroMS is vs. its competitors would help sell it to me.
Something else I picked up on that could be improved is the choice of wording in a few places. E.g.
"Focus on writing and building the audience" - how about "building your audience"?
"with excellent writing experience" - maybe this could be "that offers an excellent writing experience".
Hope that's of some help. Nice job.

Thank you, great points!
Not sure about providing numbers, though, as the product itself doesn't exist yet.
I am pretty sure I will be able to make it faster than other platforms, but at this point I don't have numbers.
Do you think I should mention that on the page?
It looks good, I like the style and illustrations a lot. Some thoughts:
Is it clear what the service is about? - from what I've read, my understanding is that ZeroMS is similar to the hosted version of Ghost: you take care of the hosting, give me a nice place to write blog posts, and I pay you X per month.
Is it clear how it's different? - The biggest difference I'm seeing is the low carbon impact, however there's very little information about this available. If this is a key feature it might be worth shouting about some more? There's also things like a fast and lightweight experience, a focus on the writing/reading, etc, but pretty much every blog platform says this and I can't see how you'll tackle it differently yet.
Is it convincing/persuasive enough? - Yes, I'm interested in requesting early access, however I'm hesitant because I have Ghost's pricing stuck in my head - $36 per month is a lot of money when Netlify are hosting my static blog for free right now. I wouldn't want to swap over to ZeroMS without an idea of what it would cost me.
If you don't like something, what is it? - The "How we stack up" section is a little difficult to compare because the cards aren't level. Perhaps something to play about with?
Wow, that's some very useful feedback! Thank you!
I will be thinking how to provide more specifics.
I should've probably mentioned that the product doesn't exist yet...
That makes it a bit hard to be specific, as all the stated differences are goals. I am pretty sure I will be able to make it faster than others, but at this point have no numbers.
