New approach to story and poetry writing - requesting feedback

Dear Indie Hackers,

I am one of the makers of StoryMakers, a collaborative story or poetry writing application.

The idea is simple: Build awesome stories 21 words at a time. As of now, the MVP is ready. I am seeking feedback on improving the product and ways of growing it.

Here's how it works: -

  1. Anyone can start a story in their language by creating a title and up to 21 words introduction.

  2. Others can now offer their own suggestions (max 21 words); we call it "snips".

  3. The story initiator can accept any "snip"; which becomes a permanent part of the story; and now new suggestions can be made.

Please visit https://storymakers.app if you wish to give it a try.

Update: After receiving some feedback; the front-page is now being converted into a 'feed'; where we'll list all the activities. I think this should make things easier to understand for new visitors.

This is cute. Reminds me of a game we did with friends on summer nights when I was a teen.

Thank you. Did you give it a try? I'm looking for feedback. Want to know how to make it better.

hey just tried it from my phone,
and submitted a lame snippet just to try it out.

        on phone:

        • can't find a place where to edit my profile (registered through google)
        • before login in, I see the create button but pushing it doesn't prompt me to register if i want to create a story, or anything else. It's just functionless.

the rest just works out fine to me, the UI is intuitive and can easily get addictive, but maybe for younger audiences (though I must admit the quarantine is making me feel old for some reason).

cracked up with Trump's Diary, so beautiful haha. Are you planning on introducing more languages, or you plan on keeping it local? I guess it's easier to moderate if you keep it local.

anyway, I might not use it in the long terms but I'll check how Trump's diary evolves.

        Best wishes!

Big thank you for the feedback, @alodia !

The MVP was launched yesterday and as of typing this, I'm working on feed and profiles. Should be ready within a day or two.

          1. Yes, we'll definitely introduce more languages in near future. We don't want to restrict to English. The existing set of languages cater to the early users that we can actually talk to.

          2. The value proposition is entertainment and creative writing. Trump's is likely to evolve as daily blog - written by multiple people. Let's see.

Do you have any suggestions things we could do to retain people?

Update: We've now replaced the latest stories with the sitewide feed! That way, it's now easier to track who's doing what on the site. Let's see how it goes.

I'm looking for suggestions and feedback on how to make this market to the right audience. Would welcome any suggestions.
