Thanks for sharing your technology solution. It is very interesting to get acquainted with the example of cloud business intelligence. I think this is a cool idea. I've been looking for a product that does this simplistically.
My main concern though, is giving database access to a cloud service, particularly a smaller service that may not have the security controls that bigger companies have. I would probably opt to use a self hosted tool.
Other feedback - be super focused on who your customer is, this is quite a wide space. Is it enterprises, is it SMBs, is it SaaS owners, e-Commerce owners etc? You will need to tailor for the needs of each. You could also add value though by having predefined reporting and queries for different systems (like Wordpress / WooCommerce) for example.
Thanks for the thoughts adamski. I am thinking other SaaS owners is one good target and to achieve that I'll be start adding integrations like you mentioned. The first ones I plan are slack and google docs.
Security was top of mind while building out the database connection feature and one safety feature I've put in place is encrypting the data source credentials at rest in the table they are stored in. I understand that even more stringent security requirements will be required sometimes though and for that, self-hosting is definitely an option.
