New computer, who dis? (Give me your favorite OSX fresh install tasks!)

I've been doing web development at an amateur/fun level for quite some time and riding a bare bones 13" 2010 MacBook Pro into the ground. After 4ish years on-and-off teaching myself and taking courses, I'm getting serious.

I finally got myself a new computer, mostly with the money I've saved working from home during the quarantine. Is that not insane? So much money wasted going into an office.

Now, my significant other and I are building some great new habits (working out? What's that?), eating healthy (never thought I'd be counting calories), and tackling personal/professional development tasks. As the USA starts to open, unwisely in my opinion, I'm not looking forward to the pressure of going back to an office.

I'm going to start pushing myself hard to get a SaaS web app out the door, even if I end up being the only user. At the same time I'm going to start looking for web development work as a more serious side-hustle, and finishing up projects for the portfolio.

I'm trying to keep the new computer pristine, I want to go at least a month without logging into any time-waster sites or installing anything unnecessary. For now, it's a work machine only: On at 6:30am when I sit down for an hour and then turned off while I focus on the day job.

What are your first installs on a fresh machine? I know I'll need VSCode, Node/npm, and Brave browser. What are your must haves?
