New idea and would love your opinions

So I have two projects I want to work on and I would love it if you would let me know if you think you would use either of these please.

  1. An augmented reality app that would let you tag and comment on the world arounds you. You could leave notes for people, draw or graffiti on top of real world objects, leave reviews what ever you like, Maybe you had a great experience in a bar and you would tag it on the wall in the venue, or you're in a gallery and can draw on top of the paintings (virtually of course). Then others with the app could open it up and look around and see what people have written about the place or messages left. Do you think this sounds interesting please?

  2. A swap shop for any item.
Maybe you are looking for a ps3 and are happy to offer your old iPhone, bike or weights bench, Someone has a ps3 to swap and would accept one or the above items in exchange - bam, the app matches you up and you arrange your swap by messaging. Again, Does this sound like something you would use?

Let me know please,

Thanks

    Hey Rob!

For idea one, I am not sure about the problem it solves and who it is addressed to.

For idea two, it could be a great idea but like all marketplace models, it's very very hard to start and scale.

My advice would be to identify a specific segment like people who want to trade their old phones for example. And just focus on that segment to start with.

    Hope this helps :)

Hey @roblorPow, The swapshop is a great idea. Gumtree had or has a lot of 'free to a good home' type stuff on it and I liked that. Sometimes swapping for money is the right idea but a lot of times it isn't.

I do think I would use a swapshop totally yes.

I read recently, on the topic of minimalism, that it is harder to shed unwanted things than it is to buy them in the first place! Swapping is that classic - one man's rubbish is another's treasure and often the things are low value money wise.

Ooo then there's the recycling angle.

    Yes. Make it.

Rob, for your first idea I think it's wonderful and very creative, but I fear not all users will draw/write the nicest things...unless you have a way to prevent this. Maybe you offer suggested messages/drawings to users to maintain a healthy, positive environment. Just a thought though.

As for your second idea I really like it! The bartering system was the way people exchanged goods at first and I think reincorporating that concept can be very beneficial for a lot of people.

Two very cool and interesting ideas and I really hope whichever one you choose (or both) go extremely well for you!
