New internet millionaire, sharing my non popular views about business
Hi guys,
Just heard about this awesome community. I am a 29 years old internet entrepreneur from the middle east, and I was fortunate and lucky (To be honest) to found a successful internet business. I have learnt a lot of lessons throughout my years in business, and most of them, are not like the stories I read online at all where the good guy finish first. I opened a blog in order to share my (non popular) views about business. I am sure many of you will find it offensive and maybe even childish, but this really is a source of knowledge I wish I had back when i opened my business. If you're really a millionaire, remove those tacky targeted display ads from your site, and remove the affiliate links for your tax fraud scheme. It'll add credibility to your story :)

Sorry but I smell BS. I am from Middle East too and seen many people who are fakes, hiding your identity makes things even worse.
On the personal level, it is not BS at all. Maybe 10% of exaggeration in order to make some points, but basically everything is true, including numbers. On the marketing level it sucks for me that it seems fake and I am aware of the problem. Thanks for the feedback.

You're absolutely right and I think it can really hurt the credibilty of the blog. Unfortunately, in order for me to be as honest as I can, including sharing bad things about my stakeholders, I must stay annonymus. I opened it first of all in order to share my thoughts (and anger) about business. Thanks for the feedback.

Everybody knows that failure sucks. You don't have to tell us. It's not an unpopular opinion, it is probably the most common opinion ever held in human kind.
That's not the point.
The point is not what's true (the fact that failure sucks) but what believes can help you live a better life. Who do you think will have a more successful business career and life overall: someone who believes that failure is a disgrace or someone who believes that failure is a learning opportunity?
We have a lot of control over what we believe in and, if the goal is to start a business, we must choose to consider failure as a learning opportunity, otherwise we would start nothing.
Regarding risk-taking, it is pretty well known that good entrepreneurs minimize risk, which differs greatly from what you are stating (that entrepreneurs hate risk).
Minimize risk means to reduce as much as possible the downsides in case of failure. For example, Richard Branson, when starting Virgin Atlantic, leased the plan instead of buying.
A person who hates risk will always find a reason why not to start, a person who minimizes risk will find a way to start with the minimum investment in capital and time.
Hi Luqa, I believe failure is bad, but if you failed, do the best you can in order to learn from it. I agree on that point and obviously I failed in many things as I am young and don't have the needed experience in many fields. I think that the idealization of failure, makes inexperienced young entrepreneurs start projects that are way too big on their measures. In my college class, there's a guy who opened an old fashioned physical products store and he wants to slowly grow it. He became a joke between the guys, as they think he's a loser because he didn't try to disrupt the airline industry or whatever. I think that people should be afraid of failing, and should be able to tell themselves - This is way out of my league. I do agree that thinking about failure too much can make good entrepreneurs stay at their 9-5 job, which is not a good outcome IMO.
