New LP based on IH feedback

https://smartforms.dev

Hey guys, we posted our landing page here last week and got some good feedback and live tested with users. We updated it, added way more copy and expanded it as it was too short.

https://smartforms.dev

Anyway, I would love if you guys could answer some questions:

  • Can you understand what the product is?
  • Does the copy have too much text?
  • What do you think of the language used in the copy?
  • Does the LP pass credibility?

Or any other comment you want to do. If you drop your product on the comments I'll also write feedback for your landing page. Thanks, guys!

Good start. As a designer myself, I would polish the designs myself. The Typography, Spacing, Alignment and Hierarchy are bit off.

Can you expand a little bit more? If I'm not asking too much.

What's the problem with the Typography and Hierarchy? Spacings I can see it, I actually choose the spacings on feeling without some kind of rule(I'm a dev, not a designer hahah). Can you point out places where the Alignment is off?

Thanks so much for your feedback, I appreciate it a lot!

I feel something is wrong with the font in the heading. Too much width maybe? not sure.

may be add some breathing space? looks cluttered.

More focus if the BG was not covering the content (personal choice)

And other spacing issues you have already found, it will become a great landing page.

          1. Probably, I'm using 900 for the width, a bit too much I guess

              1. Wow man, loved the feedback and the effort you put into it, thanks very much, I'm working on those issues. If you need something you can ask me. Thanks!

            Glad I could help.

            1. Width of the font itself I meant. (boldness)

I understand what the product does, but I would highlight the words in your h1 differently. Right now you focus on "powerful" and "easy" but I think you should highlight that you offer a form backend. This would make scanning the page and knowing what it is about easier.

For me personally the website is too wide (1680 x 1050 resolution), I feel my eyes jumping from left to right a lot.

The screenshot below "saves you time" blends a bit too much into the background illustration, which makes it hard for me to understand what I am seeing.

I like the illustrations but I think they are a bit too much. In general I would reduce the colors and illustrations a bit. Especially the yellow/blue combination at the code snippets feels too bright.

All of the above is meant to help and not criticise. I like the general look of the page.

Very helpful points. I appreciate it, looking now I can see what you're talking about, there are too many elements to look and can get distracting. The h1 thing is something that multiple people are pointing out, will work on that ASAP.

Thanks, my friend, of course, I'll not take it badly, I appreciate your help so much. If you need something from me you can just ask.

It took a few reads to figure out what the product was. Most potential customers wouldn't spend more than a few seconds on a new site.

    Impression:

    1. Language is clumsy. It reads like a non-Native English speaker wrote the copy. It needs to be revised.

    Example:

"Powerful and easy form backend for your website" << I don't care if its powerful/easy

"With less than a minute you can configure a form endpoint and receive submissions in your E-mail, Slack and Telegram without a line of backend code. Start for free, upgrade if you need more."

    --Alternative--

"Wasting time on your website backend with forms? "<< Addresses an issue I may be having

"Configure a form endpoint in less than a minute." << Easy to read, you have my attention
"Receive to Email, Slack, and Telegram immediately." << Easy to read, you have my attention

You don't need the last sentence, "Start for free....". Your CTA button already covers it and also implies a tiered pricing model.

    1. There is way too much text without really telling me anything on how you're solving my problem or addressing my needs.

    2. There are way too many distracting images and text blocks on the LP. Consider a cleaner design for easier readability. Simpler is better.

    3. There is nothing compelling that tells me this is a trusted source. Why should I buy from you?

    4. CTAs everywhere keeps pushing to sign up like a bad used car salesman. It's a bit annoying.

I'd do a deeper dive but I think you get the gist of it.
    Good luck!

      1. Thanks for pointing out. You're spot on the non-native thing xD. I appreciate so much you taking your time and pointing examples, it helps so much. Thanks.
2 and 3. I will work on that. Thanks.
      2. Do you have any suggestions? We're just starting and have only 22 free users and 1 paying user, so it's hard to have any social proof.
      3. That's really interesting, we have CTA on the footer, top bar and on the Hero. Do you think that's too much? I actually followed the Julian Shapiro guide in this aspect.

Thanks so much for taking your time, I appreciate it a lot, it gave me many ideas on things to work on. If you need something from me you can just ask. Thanks, friend!

        Glad to be of help.

I'd say leave the CTAs for now and just clean up the page per the previous comments. I failed to mention it earlier but the multiple animations are a bit distracting.

With regards to social proof, I am generally more skeptical than most. I've thought about developing customer trust deeply in my own ventures.

Trusting a company is having absolute confidence in their ability to deliver what they say they can deliver.

In my opinion, testimonials are useless UNLESS it's from an absolute authority (i.e. Google VP of Marketing using smartforms.dev). It's a secondary effect because 99.9% of people believe that a company as large as Google would have strict policies when they select their vendors. What's good for Google is good for me.

I think the question can be reframed," How do I remove suspicion from my potential customers?"

You could probably start by demonstrating the number of active users on the website, free trial or paying customers. It's a passive way of showing that people are using your product and getting an immediate ROI.

        Example:

        +22 active users | 45 forms easily connected | 100 hours saved

You can do something like the example above which reminds customers of smartforms.dev primary value proposition.

As the company grows, you may want to adjust and include satisfied customers to demonstrate that the users are indeed real.
